Fox (Rā-chul):

For the first time of my life, I'm struck by how similar Joe Frank's voice is to Kevin Conroy (the voice actor of Batman in Batman: The Animated Series). I'm really surprised that's never occurred to me before!
Avatar 4:10pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

I had a ritual, listening to Joe Frank and Alan Watts every Thursday, my car parked in a random parking lot south of Sussex County, so I could get reception. Then when I lived in Essex County, I taped them off the radio every week. I still have some somewhere. They were the only thing that got me to not get bored and antsy when trying to take a bath. YAY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm
Ike:

Never noticed that similarity to Kevin Conroy's voice. I wouldn't get them confused, but yeah, it's something in the tone or accent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm
Irwin:

"Hello. Law firm of Lefkowitz, Lefkowitz, Lefkowitz, and Lefkowitz."
"I'd like to speak with Mr. Lefkowitz."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Lefkowitz is in a meeting."
"Then I'd like to speak with Mr. Lefkowitz."
"Mr. Lefkowitz is on the golf course today."
"Then can you please put me thru to Mr. Lefkowitz."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Lefkowitz passed away a few months ago."
"Then how about Mr. Lefkowitz. Is he in?"
"Speaking."

I'd only heard that joke with Schwartz. Hence your telling of it was surprisingly funny.

Listener Robert:

Huh. I wonder how many people it would work for like Rachul if instead of stuff like my mixture (users.bestweb.net...) or boats, parents would use Joe Frank & Alan Watts to occupy their children in the bath.

The song at the end of the Joe Frank episode was "Pull My Daisy" by David Amram maybe the words by Kerouac,I forget. It has sexual meaning like "yank my crank.", from a film about the Beats; https://vimeo.com/92403607

H&tN, just superb.

...started Soft Machine-ish, then like Zappa - then something else, now back to SM...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm
Irwin:

H&tN are part of the Canterbury canon. Softs emerged from that, also Egg, Caravan, Matching Mole, etc.
  5:16pm
Dean:

Among the etc., National Health. Pretty sure that was Robert Wyatt guesting on the vocals.
Avatar 5:17pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Benefitting from Irudition ! Hear the Caravan similarity too...
  5:18pm
Dean:

Earlier Dave Stewart appeared on Khan, a Steve Hillage-led trio. The album endures to this day.
  5:19pm
Dean:

It is the Dave Stewart who, accompanying his partner Barbara Gaskin, managed to land on the charts with a cover of "It's My Party."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm
Irwin:

NatHealth was sort of a successor to H&tN, much overlapping personnel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm
Irwin:

Richard Sinclair later joined Camel. Great voice.
  5:25pm
Dean:

Yeah, and while I know better, I can't help but figure they enjoyed swapping places with the initials (HN to NH) in their names.

And what a successor they were! Bruford drummed with them for a while, yo.

Saw Camel with Sinclair at the Roxy in LA. Wonderful show.

Saw them once before, too, with Ferguson and Ward. Damn fine.

Like 'Every Little Thing' by The Beatles (written by Paul & sung by John) - 'when I'm w/ her I'm happy' - & not sounding it...in these little things is the mystery & the jeenyus...

Try "God Is More than Love Can Ever Be," a tight trio set. It's wonderful and very overlooked. Also "Night of the Purple Moon" has some strange but accessible stuff on it. Features Ra playing Rocksichord.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm
Irwin:

"Secrets of the Sun" has some great stuff from right after Ra moved to NYC. Recorded at the Choreographer's Workshop, an ad hoc studio. It has "warehouse acoustics" which are very evocative.

I will keep rereading these recommendations. Thanks for your invaluable input.
