jan:

@Carmichael- that band, I did not know. Living in NYC,
I had turned to listen to WBLS circa 1975-80? and soon lost interest in any music that was found to the right of the 88-93.9MHZ portion of the FM dial. After that, the radio was virtually broken, being mostly tuned to 91.1.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Irwin:

It reflects sad. And the sky, the rain, the wind, the sun, the moon, the sea, and smegma.
  3:25pm
Brendan:

Irwin, you are the plane above. Not the airplane above but that higher thingy where greats reside . Higher than poet laureates i think.
Avatar 3:26pm

ummm. i don't believe jewish folk are responsible for much of the world's smegma count, but i've been wrong before.

With radio as with politics, always stay near the extreme left of your dial.

@brian, P-90 points well taken. Damn those whimsical font names!

That Cheesy faux castle north of Chicago??
  3:46pm
Dean:

There's a Medieval Times in Buena Park, just up the road from Knott's Berry Farm and across the street from a wax museum. Needless to say, it's kind of overshadowed by the neighboring competition, never mind Disneyland, which is not far south on the freeway.
  3:50pm
Brendan:

Oh yeah Medieval Times font is related to Barleymeade Wench Bold or Haggardly Mutton Corsican
  3:52pm
burpage:

my mom used to say her nibs
  3:55pm
P-90:

Baskerville, Georgia, and Futura are standbys that I always come back to. They're all super-readable, and each has a personality that doesn't intrude or wear out the eye. Arial is a crappy attempt to "improve" on Helvetica, it's one of the rare fonts I actively disdain.
Avatar 4:02pm

... and Comic Sans
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
Michael in Seattle:

Oh, Joe Frank! Thank you!
  4:06pm
P-90:

Comic Sans is despicable, but someone did a nice font based on Charles Schulz's Peanuts hand-lettering. It's a much more palatable alternative to Comic Sans if you're looking for something like that for some particular application...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm

I'm an Arial guy myself. An idiot here at work uses Comic Sans. Talk about undercutting your credibility ...
  4:11pm
P-90:

Wow! her update yesterday on Go Fund Me says Joe's next procedure is "tomorrow at 1:00 pm"
If they're on the West Coast, that means 4:00 EST.
Which is right now...
  4:11pm
Clay P:

This is fascinating. It sounds like Joe dubbed in his responses in this interview, to maintain the consistency of his usual vocal delivery. Makes it more chilling somehow. And the low-volume incessant background music. A master teller of tales.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Alison Porchnik:

In the words of a dear, departed friend, in these places "the BM is King."

Jack:

Hey Irwin! A few weeks back you said Clay P. loves horn jazz rock stuff, and I know you've played the Flock before. Could you play "Store Bought, Store Thought" for him?
  4:38pm
Ike:

No matter how many Joe Franks you have, they're never spelled w/an apostrophe -- not even if you have 50 Joe Franks. But the question is, what is Joe Frank's preferred font? The font of Joe Frank. Possessive. And is Joe possessive? How possessive?
  4:39pm
Tommy:

Any more cheap shots at Bernie and I'm not listening anymore...well I'll listen but I won't pay attention
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm
Irwin:

Jack: We don't have the Flock album in the library. Have it at home. Will try to remember that I told you today that I'll bring it next week. I'm usually pretty good at remembering things I told other people I'd do, even tho I rarely do them. You can count on that.

The tax gripes don't occur here in smug ol' europe. We don't have to fill in forms. The price on the shelf is the price you hand over. I really think that's the issue. Paying tax in the US has been made as irritating and obstructive for everyman as it can possibly be. So everybody hates it. Of course, entrusting the government with automatic tax deductions takes a bit of fundamental, implicit trust. Maybe trustworthy people need to get elected in the US.
