i used to generally dislike live albums, w notable exceptions in "live at leeds" and "grand funk live album" (by far gfr's best album)...but now i think there are many good ones.
-for one thing, the majority of the best free-jazz performances are performed "live",in one take.
...but also lots of material from the "renaissance" has been released years after the performance; such as Jimi Hendrix,Fleetwood Mac (PG's),Free......

@KP Heaven is in your mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am

grand funk was alright then...but that album especially because it was just the trio with no overdubs. very basic and raw.
"mean mistreater" and "inside looking out" (animals') are excellent tracks.
- Thanks for playing Mott...
  1:47am

And did you know, Bill, that "Mott the Hoople" is a book, a novel. I saw it in library around the time they arrived on these welcoming shores

Hey coelacanth I'm with you....it was a trick bill...Mott the Hoople with a special surprise guest. Hell that was the band that made me switch to jazz!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am

marketing genius! if you claim you're huge and that you sell more albums than the beatles and that you're punk rock(Hahjahahaha!) people will believe you and follow the other sheep; and you then become nearly as big as you pretended to be!

Avatar 2:32am
ausmanx:

yep, this is Daryl, cc. the solo album Hall did with Fripp (which his record label refused to release for a while) is pretty good too
  2:32am
snake:

Yeah and I can't say enough how amazing Mott's sound was ...and Kiss...was just a joke ...but what amazed me the audience reacted more to Kiss...I knew it was the end of classic euro rock!!!!!
Avatar 2:32am
ifny:

I agreed to move in with someone on the condition that they take down the ginormous poster of KISS looming what would be our bed. It was that awful poster of KISS in full makeup with women in full makeup and leather bikinis grovelling at their feet in chains. Owait that's most of their posters. I've never understood the appeal either, music or otherwise.
Avatar 2:32am
Bill Mac:

Avatar 2:34am

I agree with everything that's been stated on this comments section tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36am

the original album lists people who contributed, but not what they did or on what tracks. i always wondered, not being that familiar with Daryl Hall's voice...but i knew it was him on "north star".
Avatar 2:37am
Bill Mac:

I'll need to check out the Hall solo.
Avatar 2:40am
ausmanx:

cc, Fripp did a three hour interview with Australian radio at the time, one of the most completely fascinating interviews (music) i've ever heard... can send it along maybe? i still have a copy! he goes through Exposure track by track, and rambles over a thousand other things (including his leaking roof)
Avatar 2:40am
ausmanx:

and Sacred Songa is good, Bill... some dreck, but some really good things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45am
coelacanth:

yes,me too on the Hall solo album.
...and i do have immense respect for Fripp for his musical contributions to this world; but i've heard some stories....and i don't always love his playing. sometimes it seems too calculated for my taste.
but KC's first 7 albums are still and always played in my home; as are 3 of his solo albums and several of his collaborations.
- he's still on a pedestal!
