Live performance and chat with Norbert Rodenkirchen, Albrecht Maurer and Robbie Lee

Creating non-traditional music with medieval instruments is a passion with Norbert Rodenkirchen, Albrecht Maurer and Robbie Lee. In Germany Rodenkirchen and Maurer have collaborated on a number of albums, the most recent being "Loplop's Call" a musical tribute to the pioneering Dada artist Max Ernst. American multi-instrumentalist Robbie Lee entered the picture after a few collaboration sessions with Rodenkirchen on medieval flutes. Robbie and Norbert perform some flute improvs, then Norbert performs duos with Albrecht on medieval violin for WFMU

Hi Irene! Looking forward to the Modern/Medieval sounding theme tonight! Maybe that's the record bin my band should be in.

Irene Trudel:

Hi Linda, redkayak, Ken and Henry! It's always a WFMU State of Mind here, which is to say, not necessarily Medieval. And, wow, Ryan! Glad you can listen in from so far away. I don't think I've ever gotten a listener from China. Welcome all!

Hey Linda, did it snow much in your area today? There's barely 1/4" here. (And hi, Irene and others.)

Late. Hi Irene. Thanks for playing Blackstar although I didn't hear it. RIP to the one guy who probably had more musical influence on everyone to follow in history.

You think NJ is chilly?
Harbin is well below zero
And it is pretty hard to stream sweet sweet radio

Bowie was an artist right up to the end. Who else could have made their inevitable impending death so incredible? Wow.

@Irene: Sorry to hear about your Mac OS X issues. I was on Mac OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks) for a while and then made the jump to Mac OS X 10.10.5 (Yosemite) only recently. Not going to make the jump to Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) until I have no choice since I hear that version is a pain in the butt. My two cents. If you already upgraded to Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) and have no other choice, then I guess just roll with it.

JakeGould:

@Irene: I know I shouldn’t say this, but of all of the Bowie tribute playlists I’ve heard in the past few days, this one is spot on. Nice work! Including your original “Space Oddity” 45 cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks Jake. I just jumped to El Capitan from 10.6.8 so I could upgrade my Pro Tools audio program. Now I'm finding all the little quirks-- my audio interfaces won't work (drivers not supported) and iTunes keeps asking for keychain access. I know I'll sort it out somehow. But, yes, a pain in the ass!
  11:54pm
JakeGould:

@IreneTrudel: Mama mia! 10.6.8 to 10.11 is a huge jump. Yup. Quirks. But hey. Life goes on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm
Irene Trudel:

Much appreciated, Jake. i know I won't get to everything, but I'm trying to play a few things others aren't. And yeah, big jump. The other version worked quite well, so why change it?? :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I agree, this is a nice round-up of David Bowie selections. Have a safe trip home, Irene. See you next week.
  11:58pm
JakeGould:

@IreneTrudel: Yup. In my experience the best course from 10.6.8 is to go to Mountain Lion (10.8) first, then jump to Mavericks (10.9) and then carefully plan whether Yosemite (10.10) should be the next step. Anyway. All good. All good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm

Dear Irene, it was such a pleasure to be in your show and it is such a pleasure to listen to it now. The sound is truly great. I was and still am worried about how our bad stumbling English including some misunderstandings due to "lost in translation" came through on air but Ute told me that it is probably fine. She send greetings too. Hope we meet again soon. We all were very happy to meet you. There are plans with Sequentia in the pipeline for 2016 and 2017. My best greetings from Koeln/Cologne! Norbert

Thank you, Irene, great show and a great homage to David Bowie

Love early Bowie but gotta say this latest title track is out and out satanic and blatant devil worship, and I'll pass on it...unfortunate.
