	🇰🇷 9:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63: @ the time I thot - hey! - this Radiohead is like a U2 that doesn't suck ...'Optimistic' randomly coming from a car or truck on the street... ...but then - it was like : go FreeForm, & even an alternative to Alternative seems irrelevant... I like Radiohead. Thom Yorke is apparently one of those hyper-aware persons - which makes the name 'Radiohead' appropriate. They Neuroticize themselves into excellence - which is the opposite of what many think Rock'n'Rolla is supposed to be all about - but Rules Schmules... Gary - this is incredible. Like I said about Native American stuff on Rob Weisberrg's show: A different kind of Soul music.

	9:33pm Gary: Prince was -- at least for the first part of his career -- super over exposed. And while I loved those early albums, I also don't own any -- I just feel like I can do all those songs in my head. I'm kind of curious about all of the stuff I haven't heard, tho
	9:38pm hyde: i still own those early albums. i also went to see purple rain about 3 times the year it came out. (a couple were 99 cent wednesday shows at the calvin theater, but still)

	9:39pm coelacanth: yeah Rev, there are lots of folks who are close-minded to radiohead, like with the beatles, just because they got popular. meanwhile it's not "commercial" music at all. if anything they helped open the world up for many who would've decended further into commercial radio crap. their first 2 albums were basic guitar rock,though a notch beyond their peers, so they got known; but if those 2 albums hadn't happened they would be okay with all those who think they're too cool,or pretend they're too sophisticated for it. (ironic since it's far more sophisticated than lots of "cool" groups that get heavy wfmu airplay)

I love the Beatles (altho, like Prince, I don't own any of the albums anymore -- can do it all in the head), but I have a visceral reaction to Radiohead. I think it may even come down to the guy's voice grating on me in a very deeply physical way. (Deeply Physical Way -- now there's an 80s song title for you)
	9:47pm Gary: We think of pop music (and alt music is pop music, in the sense I'm thinking of) as being somehow objective (not the right word, but) -- so liking or disliking we tell ourselves is about semiotics and identity, kind of -- but there's a completely visceral component to it

Yorke said he was working w/ Bjork - & he broke emotionally - & she told him that was very selfish - & he acknowledged she was right. In Pop/Rawk - it's as much about distinctive Sounds as Musically Technical attributes. Yorke has a distinctive voice: he sounds like himself - & is expressive - & that's usually half the battle. People often say this about voices in Pop Music...

Yorke said he was working w/ Bjork - & he broke emotionally - & she told him that was very selfish - & he acknowledged she was right. In Pop/Rawk - it's as much about distinctive Sounds as Musically Technical attributes. Yorke has a distinctive voice: he sounds like himself - & is expressive - & that's usually half the battle. People often say this about voices in Pop Music...
