FWIW, on 9-11 I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan since some friends were still there and I thought I could help in some way. Of course I got turned back and walked back to the other side. But for months after that I would have panic attacks walking across any bridge anywhere. It took about 4-5 walks over bridges for me to finally shake that off.

VP - with the fear of heights / close to the edge thing... it baffles me how many bridge walkways have guard rails that are only waist high, trying to be rational, i cannot understand how people aren't accidentally falling over the edges all the time. seems like it would be pretty easy to trip and go fall over the rail, especially on a bike

somehow i ended up too (stupid?) to fear heights. 2nd wedding anniversary was a glider ride over the AZ desert. Excellent. Narrow-path mountain hiking, love it. But any random kid or baby is the most horrifying thing on earth.

DDP - I used to be TERRIFIED of roaches. Then I (unknowingly, of course) moved into a house infested with them. Fixed that shit right away. If I had held onto that fear, I would have literally gone insane. I had never seen that many roaches in one place before, and I've stayed with family in Latin America...
Advion and Invict roach gel are gifts from the gods. Cleared up the problem completely in less than two weeks. Incredible.

@ steve - I agree 100% on the bridge railing issue - same holds true for cars on some bridges where guard rails seem almost non-existent.
