Ahhh… Tan lines… Let’s tread lightly on that topic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm
George of Troy:

What the Rev said... Building and maintaining this level of continuity takes focus!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm
coelacanth:

i don't seem to tan much these days, despite working outside a lot. my theory is it's due to the colloidal silver i take.
Avatar 10:08pm

maybe you'll get blue lines.

why blumin8? are there 1~7 blumins?

The Blumen8tor
  10:14pm
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: You seriously take colloidal silver?
  10:16pm
JakeGould:

Because there is this guy I saw on a bike in the East Village a year or so ago who was genuinely blue. Like he needed to be color corrected. So blue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm
Īke:

Blumins 1-6 got eaten by aliens and Blumin 7 vanished in a mysterious time-travel incident. He went to 2019 where he'll mistakenly battle Blumin 8 until they realize they must team up to fight the forces of evil.
  10:18pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: Did you just watch the Terminator?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Daniel Blumin:

Buddy-B, you got it! Ike, you got it II! George, I tend to bluminate rather than focus but still blu after all these years...
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 10:23pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

There once was a dude I worked with who had some kind of blood deficiency that gave him a green pallor. He died young; maybe 40.
Avatar 10:23pm
Mayuko:

I guess Blumin 1-6 were eaten by those aliens mostly because of the music they played on their radio shows.
  10:25pm
JakeGould:

The one Blumin that was in that Borg-infested Universe all battle ravaged was pretty cool.

Roulette goes back to 1986?! i had no idea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
coelacanth:

Jake, yes.
...and i've heard of people turning blue or grey because of it, which is how i got my theory. because i eat a lot of high-carotenoid foods, they might balance each-other out on the color scale!
(it's just a theory.)

@Jake@10:18, nope, that probably came partly from Babylon 5 (though Babylons 1-3 weren't eaten exactly) and partly from... uh... some other old SF, maybe. (Ha ha, nice TNG reference@10:25. They should've done a whole ep. about that Bluminverse.)

I think the disease the guy had was likely hypochromic anemia (en.wikipedia.org...). Plus, he was from Cyprus, where it's common to have an olive complexion.

JakeGould:

@Ike: FWIW, never got into Babylon 5, but have been rewatching the first Terminator film. Literally have not seen it since 1985; 30 years. It’s pretty bad by action film standards; a real B-grade film in comparison to it’s sequel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
Ike:

You don't like it? I think it's really well-directed and punchy for a low-budget 80s action B-movie.
  11:39pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: I don’t hate it, but wow… The film does not hold up for me… It’s a decent B-movie from an era of crappy action films, but to compare I can always rewatch “Commando” and enjoy it. Ditto with “Die Hard”… This is just boring me…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
Īke:

Hmm, I don't think I ever saw Commando. Too bad it's not on Netflix. How's Running Man? I saw it in the 80s on HBO or Showtime, but I don't remember it at all.
  11:46pm
JakeGould:

Running Man never felt right to me when I first saw it. Total Recall and Robocop still hold up well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm
Ike:

Oh yeah, I just re-watched Robocop and liked it a lot better this time. I think the satire hit me more clearly this time. Maybe I'd only seen a crummy TV edit before. OK, this conversation is really trashy. What's your favorite pretentious art flick?
  11:51pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: Easy, “Au hasard Balthazar” and/or “Mouchette”. Both Bresson films. The first is about poor donkey everyone treats like crap except one girl and the second is about a poor girl who everyone treats like crap and has a crap life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm
Ike:

Ah, I'm not versed in Bresson at all, but I've heard about the donkey one. My favorite art film might be Kieślowski's "Double Life of Veronique." Or I could be more predictable and go with "400 Blows."
  11:54pm
JakeGould:

I also like Scorsese’s “After Hours.” Just rewatched it this week… Better than I remembered on all levels.
  11:57pm
JakeGould:

The album was called “Heartbeat City.” It also has a track called, “Heartbeat City.”
  11:59pm
JakeGould:

My first concert? Sting on the “Dream of the Blue Turtles” tour at Radio City Music Hall. Yup… *crickets* *crickets* *crickets* *howls* *crickets*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm
coelacanth:

Thanks Daniel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am

Man, I missed all the filmtalk! Commando and Au Hasard Balthazar - a perfect double feature!
