It took a couple of songs longer than I expected to get to Back in the USA. I would have opened with Jonathan Richman's version, but that's just me;-)

I missed last night's Ribeye Brothers show. Tim told me he was impressed by the opening act, Von Mons. Maybe I'll catch them when they and the Disconnects open for the Rezillos at the Wonder Bar on Thursday.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 4:13pm ChrisB.:

Joe, the Brian Wilson show was a lot of fun, until some rowdy local crashed the stage during Barbara Ann and Surfin' USA.
Avatar 4:14pm TehBadDr:

Fair enough. Just wanted to let you know how pleasantly surprised I am to hear the 3 chord Monte in an off time. Happy 4th! But ZOMG no now you've edited my comment, good day!
  4:14pm P-90:

Happy Fourth Joe B, Julie, bobdoes and comments all-stars!
Any version of "Running Bear" is always welcome, this is a cool one!
Avatar 4:14pm Joe B:

you giot a problem with him good for you, why you bothering me with it?
Avatar 4:18pm bobdoesthings:

thanks and same to you P-90!
Avatar 4:19pm Joe B:

give me a fucking break - 'just wanted to say pleasantly surprised'. you wanna stir shit up, i'm not here for that.
  4:25pm Listener Robert:

I've long been interested in how certain motifs came to be "Injun music", as illustrated in "Running Bear", such as a strong 4/4 drumbeat & minor 5ths. Somebody must've started all that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Rhody Chris:

Somehow I knew Dale was coming up when you said trucking music. Awww yeah
  4:26pm John L.:

Hey Joe, I have a trivia/scavenger hunt question that only you, or your listeners, can help me with. Van Dyke Parks was on an episode of the Honeymooners when he was a child actor. I can't find a clip or photo. Help me if you can. And, Joe, play some Beach Boys, if you are so inclined.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Johnny Cash! Now we're talkin'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Rhody Chris:

Whatever you do, PLEASE don't play that godawful Lee Greenwood song.
Avatar 4:31pm Joe B:

hey John, I dont know
Avatar 4:31pm Joe B:

make me an offer Chris!
Avatar 4:32pm drewo:

It rained in Arizona today! And it was beautiful. Thanks Joe and Happy 4th.
  4:32pm P-90:

Duke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Dominick:

Remember, only you can prevent forest fires!
  4:33pm Hackensack Slim:

Hey Joe,
Happy 4th. Great show of course. Yeah, Brian Wilson played Drive-In. There were probably half a dozen drive-in theaters within 10 miles of that very spot back in the day.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 4:35pm ChrisB.:

@JohnL: You might ask Van Dyke himself on Twitter, @thevandykeparks . He's pretty active and engaging with fans
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm SeanG:

Thanks for the great tunes Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Rhody Chris:

I got a good laugh out of that one Joe
Avatar 👻 4:35pm David Shortell:

I just looked through my Royal Purple discs to see if I have the one with "Declaration of Independence".
Yep, it's on 2006's Transcendental Medication. A Count Five song, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Dominick:

@John L. - Van Dyke Parks had a recurring role on The Honeymooners as Little Tommy Manicotti, the kid from upstairs
  4:39pm John L.:

Thanks for the song. My search for Van Dyke Parks continues. Hope to see you soon. Dominick, thanks. I haven't been able to find any pics, though. I was challenged by a friend to find one. I hope asking here isn't cheating. Shhhh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Rhody Chris:

I should have listened to my copy of that Johnny Cash record this morning when I was making breakfast. It would be appropriate according to the tradition of listening to Alice's Restaurant while getting ready for Thanksgiving.
  4:41pm Frank Above:

Really digging the show today Joe. Perfect for just hanging out and pre-gaming for this evening's party.
Avatar 4:45pm Bryce:

i say!
  4:46pm Tomophobic Tom from Detroit:

Salutations to the peoples champ!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Dominick:

  4:47pm Stan:

  4:48pm Bill in W.O.:

"Rowdy local"? I see what you did there!
  4:55pm BriJet:

So amazing!!!
Avatar 👻 5:01pm David Shortell:

The Coffin Daggers are one of the dozen groups playing next Saturday's Asbury Park Surf Music Festival, starting noon at Asbury Lanes (209 Fourth Ave, Asbury Park, NJ).
  5:02pm sharonlynngriffiths:

Wow, that bicentennial rant sounded JUST LIKE something Hearty White would do - but his accent would have fit it even better!
  5:03pm Carmichael:

Heya Joe, checking in between beers and fireworks.
  5:05pm Steve-O:

I still miss Terre T.....I wonder if she'll ever come back?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm dale:

good show, liked the albert brooks, surprisingly. there was only one kid on the honeymooners, tommy manicotti from upstairs, so van dyke parks must have been him john l.
  5:10pm TerryBurns:

Great show, Joe. Digging the 'Soccer Superstar' - nice choice for FIFA fever.
  5:16pm Golde:

I just want to say to every impure hearted person who dares to spread impurity on this comment board: I love you very much. I care about you very much to say the right thing to you. I do. No one loves you to say such a thing to you. Everyone else ignores you except for me. Jesus loves you.
  5:16pm Listener Robert:

I chortled out my vape at, "...or your money back."
Avatar 5:20pm bobdoesthings:

chortled? sounds bad.. you ok?
  5:21pm Listener Robert:

That was great, Elvis P. doing his own mashup. He had a great sense of humor. I saw him during his comeback in Las Vegas, & went in with my elders thinking, "Why do we have to see this cornball stuff?" I left very impressed w him as an all-round great entertainer. He had terrific presence.
  5:26pm P-90:

@L. Robert: i envy you the chance to see Elvis live, even at that stage of his career.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm dale:

who's all psyched to see a capitol 4th with barry manilow on pbs? BARFF!
  5:40pm drew:

suds killing it!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Joe. Good shoe despite having to deal with a turd in the punch bowl.
  5:49pm Carmichael:

This is an awesome jam!
  5:54pm cheri pi:

UP Michigan sounds great JB!!!
  5:55pm pinto bean:

I'm timing the end of my watermelon julep with this jam..thanks for the great tunes, Joe!
  6:12pm Steve-O:

Another great show, Joe! I hope you all enjoy the rest of the 4th! =)
Avatar 6:21pm Philthy woman:

I like the July 4th grinch.
'Save me' is a perfect sentiment for a day of patriotic pestivities.
