Avatar 4:44pm
Ghost of Posts Past:

@Apples Caruthers noise rock/music can be good. it depends on how the music plays out and if the duration compliments the "sounds" being used. i for one don't like compositions that play out for 20 minutes with minimal effort, unless the purpose is to be anti-music. not all noise rock however, is anti-music. some sound fine with a shorter track duration than others. you'd be surprised that noise has a lot of variety. btw. i'm in my mid 20's and still enjoying noise just fine.

Ike I notice in two weeks or so (May 2nd), that park will be open til 8 for the summer! I support everyone's right not to like every single thing every single DJ plays every single day. It can get a little "Emperor's New Clothes" around here sometimes. I posted a critical comment about a track I heard this morning and everybody answered with how much they were enjoying it--I said, well, that's the nature of freeform, right? The reason I listen to FMU is, even if a DJ plays something I don't like, I'm pretty sure if I stay tuned, I'll hear something else I REALLY like soon. (If I don't jump out the window first.) I'm actually a big Fabio fan and even that very annoying noise track was OK with me today. Now, another day I might not be able to take it. Oh, well.

I read once that Lou Reed only did "Metal Machine Music" to punish his label because he was mad at them and he wanted to give them the least commercial thing he could think of. I'll always remember his interview with Lester Bangs, telling him there were bits of Beethoven in there, but Lester couldn't hear it because he was too stupid.
