Apparently you were supposed to be out this week and should have gotten a fill-in, Daniel. You must not have gotten the memo. And you can't claim to be somebody else filling in for Daniel Blumin, because you don't sound like anybody but yourself.

JakeGould:

Ike, finished watching “Supergirl.” I take it back; the effects were genuinely the best thing in there.

HI Daniel and everyone,, this now is at least warming up the SuB woofer,, few of us have bets ,, I strategically placed an accurate thermometer,, outside and we have some wagers going on whether by 7am if it drops below 0F .. my bet is no,,

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Ike:

Ha, Jake. Urgh. I've rewatched a few things I liked as a kid that ARE surprisingly decent. That's surely not one of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Daniel Blumin:

p-90, if you could only see the moves on the dancefloor...
  7:46pm
P-90:

Does Walter Pigeon do the Funky Chicken?
  7:46pm
JakeGould:

Ike, the problem is… It’s just an incompetent film… The acting is stiff, the premise is nuts, Helen Slater is the only good thing in it… And a few of the action/flight sequences are great. But by the last 1/2 hour you are like, “Holy shit did nobody think to edit this!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
Tome:

we're not betting money just a thing, but since I'm the one with the thermometer outside my place I'll have to think of something,, just for fun really ,, I feel like a winner myself when someone who I knew say ,, 20 years ago ,, says" WTF is that you're listening" too ? then when I see them like years latter they're a big fan of this station and they've changed from an uptight person to someone more cool and mellow,, it's just great man !
  7:47pm
JakeGould:

Ike, to even the karma I will be rewatching “Superman III” with Richard Pryor. The first film I paid money to see in the theater where I was constantly saying, “This sucks!” when I was 15 years old.
  7:48pm
P-90:

Does this intentionally sound like the Balinese Monkey Gamelan (the "gong Kebar")?
  7:49pm
moontana:

I think he intends all the sounds and references.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
Ike:

Superman III is insane. It's such a crazy mixed bag of good and terrible ideas w/too much silly comedy. The AI villain at the end should have been brought in sooner.
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 7:56pm

This Robert Normandeau is nuts.

moontana:

He may be nuts but it sounds meticulously composed, nonetheless.
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 7:59pm
Jack Mello:

spreading the what?
  8:05pm
JakeGould:

Ike, if you want perspective: When I saw this, it was in a Brooklyn theater. Only 5 people in the audience: Me and two friends and then a dad and his kid. When I keep on saying “This sucks!” the dad says, “You had better shut up or I’m calling an usher!” I keep on saying it sucks and then his son says, “Dad, this movie does suck…” They leave and me and my friends are literally the only people sitting there watching the film.
  8:07pm

That “this” being “Superman III.”

Just saw Mind over Mirrors last week- this was really great live, their sound vibrated the place and made you aware of the space in a great way. They played with Horse Lords who
were so fabulous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm
Daniel Blumin:

Moontana, it is composed indeed! Now that is one sad story, JakeG. But the burning q is, have you ever left a movie? One worse than SIII? Hallooo, coelacanth! Glad ya dig, Jeff!

JakeGould:

DanielBlumin: When I in my 20s, I walked out of “The Two Jakes.” And I didn’t walk out of “Superman III” because when you are a kid and $5 is a lot of money, you’re going to stay there and hope for better.
Avatar 8:33pm
Philthy woman:

Daniel Blumin, I doubt they will disapoint. Are they playing with Horse Lords there too?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
Daniel Blumin:

Not sure - was just thinking I gotta look into it after yr review! Thx fer tuning in, Philthy!
Indeed! I am not sure I've ever walked out! Fer the same reason, Jake...
  8:45pm
JakeGould:

That’s also part of the reason really bad films get released: A studio or producer invests money and 50% there they see the film is crap. If they bail, then they definitely lose the 50%. If they complete the film there is some chance to recoup the investment.

That said I have walked out of live performances. Usually within 10-15 minutes. The most awkward was this one where it was clear I was one of the few people who were not a relative or friend of the performer. But sorry: I have a chance to hang out with real people I like somewhere else or suffer for someone else’s “art” which makes me judgemental, but hey. Personal tastes and life and time and limits.

As another episode of "Krell Sunday Family Theater" winds down...
I 'm thinking that I've never actually tried to watch "Supergirl." This spirited dialogue has inspired me to consider finally making the attempt. Maybe.

Krista Tea:

It seems like vanity projects always reveal themselves in 10-15 minutes. I never walk out on live performances until there is a break though. If that is what JakeGould means I agree with him. I never feel bad because everyone knows that these things a not good even if they stay.
  9:00pm
P-90:

Thanks, DJ Daniel, another great show,
And really looking forward to next week's "special" with Mr. [not-De]Young!
  9:00pm
JakeGould:

My role model for art performances is Gregory Corso who would shout out if someone sucked at poetry slams. That guy! I haven’t done that yet, but might be the next stage if I love the performer, but the work seems week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
Daniel Blumin:

Thanks, p-90 & all! Do tune in for Dennis Young (of Liquid Liquid) next week!!!
