	7:21pm Gary: The secret is to make it with a can of tomatoes, real tomatoes, Italian sausage and fennel seeds. A few other things, too ;)

	7:26pm glenn: best simple tomato sauce - peel medium yellow onion stud with cloves put in saute pan with good olive oil cook until soft open can of SAN MARZANO tomatoes. (very important detail). squish in hands. add to pan. cook until reduced, add salt and pepper to taste. remove onion. boom. done.
	7:26pm Gary: Well, point being that it COULD be anything. Oh, wait ... MUSHROOMS. Those are important. The other things beyond that are garlic, sea salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning

	7:30pm Doug Schulkind: @glenn That is basically Marcella Hazan's famed simple tomato sauce (though she doesn't use cloves and she does sauté the onion in butter.) In our house, we just call it a Marcella. As in, "who's gonna make the Marcella?!"

	7:31pm Holly in NC: Mushroom most excellent when available. @Glenn - your sauce is very similar to my go-to simple sauce, which is Marcella Hazan's, which omits the cloves and subs butter for olive oil. So good.

I just finished the damn driveway ~4 pm today, at which point it promptly started snowing. Schools cancelled again tomorrow. We're only going down to 11F tonight, but 0F tomorrow.
