They say finding werk is harder werk than werk - so we shouldn't let it psych us out. A friend said you learn as much about yourself from the jobs you don't get as the ones you do. I figure that's a rationalization, but a good one. & finally - another friend says he got a magic mantra in these situations: 'It's only a job.'
