@pierre: I love BCBG, but I'm not that fond of that release (maybe because I'm tired of being hammered for liking them)

hi all. My fumes are running on fumes.

A four-shot depth charge is barely doing it for me.

Cecile:

I finished my final paper which I think is an excellent college student paper according to the rubric, but would be hacked to bits if it ever hit print. Gah.

At this point in my life, I think papers are pointless - the assignment should be to write an article for someone who knows nothing about the subject or do a presentation or installation. Just my 2 cents.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm
fred:

@Cecile: why are you writing a paper? I thought you didn't have to do that anymore. I'm genuinely puzzled
Avatar 12:33pm
Cecile:

I am in an intro History of Graphic Design class at a US community college which is all-book. And the teacher is wily enough to have half the chapters taught by student presentation. My assigned group did a presentation, which we accompanied with an art installation because we were tired of reading and parroting the material back. We got a perfect score.

I think this class is also somehow expected to help people practice and refine their writing, but personally, I'd rather just read a bunch of books and write an article that my mom or dad would enjoy. I think it's both harder and more rewarding than a paper.

@Cecile: I'm even more puzzled as to how these clueless people should be in a position to give a degree to YOU, but as long as they do, I'll forgive their utter lack of clue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Liz Berg:

Agreed that at a certain point, writing about something to a general audience and presenting in public are more useful skills to practice. Hope you can catch up on zzz's tonight, Cecile!

@ Scott : Merci mon ami, actually I didn't do the front work, but only the back ! The front work has been made by the great (and friendly too) Julien Pacaud, great illustrator !

@Fred : I like this release, but I feel you. I mean I understand liking less stuff. It can, or maybe will grow more on you. Do you have it?

it's required for my certificate, which I want for a number of reasons.

I have only been seriously reading about graphic design for three years, (even though I've always loved it and somehow practiced it)and I could teach the class. It's not all about knowledge.

I really did feel that vibe from your Mon. morn program. I gather from your remark now and recent listening that that wasn't necessarily your preference, but chosen thoughtfully for the time slot. In that case, retroactive thanks.

I thought it was perfect that you woke us up on Mon. mornings & that Irene Trudel then mellowed us out in the afternoon. Her stuff is fine for nights too, though.
