Good Wednesday, Amanda & all!! Marty McSorley played this "Sweet Caroline" yesterday a.m. I grew confused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
listener james from westwood:

No melancholy at September here. November really does that for me. Bring on the fall!!
Avatar 12:06pm
Carmichael:

Wow, I'm actually here live. Hi Amanda and others to follow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm

The supreme high quality of Esso Steel Band has not gone unnoticed by others and that is very proper.

the Robyn Hitchcock interview with Marc Maron is worth checking out. The song he plays at the end sounds great, too.

For Pete's sake, now I have to *rehearse* these karaoke songs so I don't screw them up? How do real musicians do it anyway?

@Carmichael - I'll tell her. My life-advice is, partner with someone who can do things you can't (and vice-versa).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm

Oh, so I wasn't the onlyn one hearing "retard." I feel better now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm

Listener James, retard works so much better!

'course, up Massachusetts way, where I'm originally from, it's simply "tahd."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
listener james from westwood:

Well, I don;'t like to use the term myself, but mondegreens are mondegreens.
Wow, loving this Violent Squid. I want to see the movie this conjures in my head.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
listener james from westwood:

Amanda, those Henley cuts also get to me. Almost broke down while singing "TBOS." Heavy loss-of-childhood emotional connection on that one (was early high school for me).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Amanda:

Phew! Glad I am not the only one. It's a very specific pinpoint of time and mood for me, probably because I was a captive audience to it listening to the radio and never would be that captive again...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Doug Schulkind:

My sister had a guitar teacher when she was a teen who claimed to have written "Lyin' Eyes." He said he'd sent a demo to a producer who had some connection to the Eagles and the next thing he knew, the song, with a few alterations to the lyrics, was a hit. He always said he'd perviously mailed a copy of the song to himself so he could prove the song was his, but the case got thrown out. As a kid I was SO certain the story was true.
Avatar 12:53pm
ndbob:

Wow Doug
  12:54pm
Dean:

@Doug: I have a similar story about a guy who lived in an apartment building where I lived. The story ran that he claimed to have written -- get this -- Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville."
Avatar 12:55pm
Carmichael:

I wrote most of Shakespeare's sonnets. Mailed them to myself, too. But I moved before they arrived.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Brian in UK:

It does not matter what Ray Davies sings, just hear the voice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Jeff Golick:

Was listening to the LOLA album on my morning commute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Amanda:

I would probably not try to take credit for any Don Henley songs, but that's just me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Brian in UK:

Carmichael you are a bounder and a cad, sir. My guinea pig wrote that lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Jeff Golick:

Was slightly mortified to think that I only knew two bandmembers by name, the brothers.
  12:57pm
Dean:

@Carmichael: Shakespeare is public domain. We all wrote the sonnets, more or less. You should mail all the Harry Potter books to yourself if you want to cash in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Jeff Golick:

I love every comment from Doug that begins, variously, "my sister..."; "my wife..."; "my professor..."; "my childhood friend..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Uncle Michael:

"Proper Stranger" = head-boppin' w/ ear-to-ear-grin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm

Have you got World War Two Noises by the Ronettes.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm

Brownsvill Station. Yes, I was in Jr. High and, yes, smoking in the boys room was a thing. Actually, they took all of the stall doors out, because of such things. Learned a lot in those years.
Avatar 1:15pm
Danne D:

Apparently they had Sharia law at this particular school if getting caught was surely the death of them all.
Avatar 1:15pm
northguineahills:

We went across the street to the Burger King parking lot to smoke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
Stevel:

Danne D: Depends which administrator caught you. Although, when it came down to my Dad, I would have preferred death.
  1:18pm
Dean:

I wrote "Smokin' in the Boys Room." Those jerks in Brownsville Station heard me practicing (in the boys room) and the rest was history.
Avatar 1:18pm
northguineahills:

With my parents, being caught w/ weed or alcohol was preferable to tobacco (although I couldn't drink in front of my parents until I was 26, they don't drink), based on the punishments my younger bros got.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
listener james from westwood:

That's a lousy time slot for S.3. Nuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm

OMG, "Colonel Homer." ::opens a FUDD::
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
listener james from westwood:

Don't forget Stand By Your Manager!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
listener james from westwood:

The bowling gag!! Every time, we'd sing "There's a kind of hush..." when we'd all go bowling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Brian in UK:

@NGH you are right it is Cherry Red, after I wrote it I thought I got the wrong label. Scary that you know that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
listener james from westwood:

The microsecond when Homer taps the whole cup of ice into his mouth, right before he spits it out, is one of the greatest cels in the show.

Spittle County.

The mix on this HH sounds different. Perhaps my ears are fifty years older.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm
