A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

@Jeroen: Ought were great, Jeffrey Lewis really good too, and I saw a cool band from Canada called Un that I had never heard about. Other cool sets too, but they're local people I know who don't really tour and haven't released anything. One of the reasons why I don't like summer is that there are very few shows

Here's some bird trivia. I was watching Top Gear last night on BBC America when the boys on the show talked about the saluting of the magpie. I never heard of this and did a little googling and found this:
A superstition about magpies, as the old rhyme goes
One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, 4 for a boy, five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told.
So if you see one magpie (sorrow) you salute it to get rid of the sorrow.
