@ coel: yes, after staring at this gif and doing deep rhythmic meditative breathing, I have acknowledged the truth that this image may represent the demonic possession of Alice Cooper by Don Knotts, rather than the other way around, as a non-initiate would assume

It looks like "In Stereo" was never really part of the album's title. The early releases are mono, and the rereleases are in stereo. The way the artwork on the cover was modified on some reissues makes it appear as the name is "Jazz Party in Stereo", but the proper name is just "Jazz Party". There are definitely albums in Discogs that have different titles when the release changed the name (ie: The Power Station 33 1/3 vs. The Power Station CD vs. The Power Station DVD).
Avatar 5:30pm
Droll:

Correction: Mono and Stereo versions were released at the same time in 1959, presumably only the hi-fi snobs bought the stereo version.
Avatar 5:33pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

thanks, droll. i will continue to think of it as 'jazz party in stereo' tho. or maybe do my own record called that.
