Wow, TDK60@3:08, I missed that. I bet those were just about the most relaxed, conversational voices on KCR in years. Heh.

This is great music. I just realized with embarrassment that I'd always unconsciously conflated Tiny Tim and Moondog. For shame!

Very much enjoying the show and very much looking forward to the film! I've been fanatical about Moondog since finding "& his Friends" and the Brunswick release in a box of 10"s over 25 years ago...hit me like a missive from the gods.

Nice harp piece - I should get it for my daughter to play. Where do you get his scores?

Ellen T:

Don't mean to barge in on a tangent, but I wanted to share that I had a personal encounter with Moondog. I am 63 years old and this happened probably when I was about 7. I was walking with my parents on 6th Ave. being a little wise guy, running ahead of them to show my independence. I was suddenly "accosted" and kind of swooped up snd carried along by a man wearing a cloak and Viking head dress. He made me feel I had left the world I was in entirely, and he surrounded me with an energy that felt, to my young self, both terrifying and sublime simultaneously. After walking some steps together, he broke off, and there were my parents, laughing. My father said, "you know who that was, don't you?" Which of course, I did not. "That was Moondog!" I was so incredulous that my father would know about someone like this -- he gave me the sense that this was not any run of the mill street person, but someone quite extraordinary. As I said, I am 63, and this experience has always remained exceptionally vivid, even though it was many years before I connected the dots, and realized who Moondog was.

Ellen - That gave me chills - Thanks

Ellen T:

He made some kind of noise, too. At first I was so frightened. He had this blustery, fierceness, and a real seriousness, as if to say, I'm not fooling around here. But it was as if I met an actual magical being. It's nice to share this. I rarely talk about it. I will go to the website and tell the story to the documentarians.

Ellen T:

I wish my dad was still alive so I could ask him how he knew who Moondog was, and that he was so special. I mean, I thought I had left the earth, and there were my parents some steps behind, just watching the whole thing -- with no fear for the safety of their little girl. Hard to imagine that happening in the world of today.
