yeah Alien was the 1st R-rated movie Dad took me too. I was 9, and loved it. My 7-yr old brother on the other hand was scarred for life. 1st "grownup" movie (with naked ppl) Mom took me to was "Kramer vs. Kramer". And I didn't get the message!!!

Q-Mark, At Swim Two Birds and the Dalkey Archives are considered his other great novels. I would also recommend The Poor Mouth, a terrific send up of the sort of folksy-noble Irish poverty memoirs that have only become more popular since Flann's time. Finally, you might enjoy compilations of his newspapers stuff, written under the name Myles na gCopaleen.
