Hello all! Trying to decide if the documentary "A Band Called Death" is worth watching tonight. Anyone familiar with it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm

I'm sure it'd be worth it!

Some folks said it was good.
I have their CD, but haven't seen the movie. the music is excellent.

@Caryn - yes, worth watching...though I don't think I finished due to circumstances at the time. But a well told story, and great music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm

Caryn, I haven't seen it, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. The story alone is interesting enough to make it worth your time.

I heard nothing but good things about '.."Death", but have not yet seen it myself.

Thanks for the info, all! They've been showing music documentaries on the same spot for a couple of months now. Seems like this will be a nice follow-up to the Big Star doc from a couple of weeks back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm

Bottom line -- if you're looking for Caryn tonight and you're not looking in front of a TV, you're looking in the wrong place.

@CARYN: a band called death is a good 'un. i just saw a bbc doc on hawkwind. some funny stuff in that one!

i for some reason had to turn off A Band Called Death a few minutes in after seeing Henry Rollins being a talking head. maybe i should've stuck with it...

@Parq: I think that goes for most nights. A limited budget means the tv and laptop are my main entertainments. Being laid up with the flu right now means they're definitely the only pastimes I have at the moment.

@Parq: heh, nah, it's just that I rather enjoy when tv quiz shows are a bit more tricky (oh, my undying love for The Krypton Factor...). The downside is that they can sometimes leave you feeling like a moron for not getting most of the answers. In those situations, it feels nice to have an excuse handy (like "damn music throwing me off my game!").

Certainly in terms of Canadian musical atrocities, Rush is probably not in the top 3, no matter how you slice it. Nickelback and Justin Bieber will probably be there, though. The third can be selected from a wide array of unfortunate Canadian acts, depending on your personal taste.
