91.1 just came back up after being out for 30 minutes here in Sleepy Hollow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Scott Williams:

whoah, it was out for 30min, Bryant? thx for the headsup
Avatar 3:35pm
Bryant:

Yeah, it went out at the end of Jim Price and came back up right before I posted. On a related note, I'm now listening to the online stream and the over-the-air signal simultaneously, and they're out of sync in a way that's adding an entirely new rhythm to this track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm

Bryant, I highly advocate listening that way all the time

Himbeereis! (raspberry ice cream) That Aloa wasn't the one I'm thinking of, but it reminded me of an 80s German video I didn't like when I was a teen. Based on search results I think that could be Grauzone's "Marmelade und Himbeereis"--have to check that out later, see if I like it now.

I had the pleasure of playing w/ Charles a decade ago. He drove through a blizzard from Philly just to make a gig that paid peanuts (actually cakes, beer, and a few dollars)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm

Hey Bas! @NGH, I envy you! as for the talkover bed: I don't remember the original source, but it's a loop I contributed to the WFMU "Running in Place" locked groove LP a few years back.
Avatar 5:37pm

The funny thing about that gig, only one other NYC group showed up b/c of the blizzard, but Charles plowed through in his car on the turnpike from Philly.

It's hard to go wrong w/ Jake Holmes--this is great underappreciated psychedelia, and of course there's the Four Seasons "Genuine Imitation Life Gazette".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm

Avatar 🧩 5:48pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: Jake Holmes is certainly worth taking a listen to--very narrative pop pieces reflecting the 60s era.

@UM: Without credit! I'm well aware, same thing with Bert Jansch's "Black Mountainside".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm

Jake Holmes' "Dazed & confused" is 1000% creepier than Zepp's

Also agree Scott!
Though we had talked on one of these boards about Delaney & Bonnie's original "Superstar" that was played--and how Karen's version is much better/creepier, she makes it sound like the fan imagined the whole thing ("It's just the radioooo...")
