Gillaspie goes down. End of the 2nd.
Avatar 9:04pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Good evening evan.
Avatar 9:05pm
Holly in NC:

Hello efd! Hello everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm
efd:

Greetings Richard!

Alex, I forgot we're rivals for a couple of days. Keep me posted!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm
Alex of Chicago:

I wouldn't call it a rivalry. And I don't get to worked up over winning or losing. I figured you might like some updates.
Avatar 9:08pm
Holly in NC:

Gotta be ballsy to cover this...
Avatar 9:08pm
Loretta:

Hi all ~
Avatar 9:10pm
Peteski:

@HiNC I heard the original (eddie floyd?) in a trailer recently. Oh boy. Nothing is sacred.
  9:11pm
Eddy in Australia:

Hi EFD, Hi Holly - it's been a while.
I finally picked up the Eddie Floyd/Stax 7" of Big Bird at a record fair just the other day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm
Tome:

good evening EFD and all nice start to a chilly Wed evening indeed .. sizzling even !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm
efd:

Hey Eddy, nice to see you again! Hope all's been well.

Howdy Peteski, Holly, Loretta, Tome and all lurkers! Thanks for tuning in!

Alex, I'll happily accept your updates in the friendly spirit in which they were intended.
Avatar 9:14pm
Andrew Fetter:

Hello all! Listening live tonight after coaching soccer practice. Sounding great so far!
  9:15pm
Eddy in Australia:

BTW: Nice segue into Weller - assuming that was a nod to the Jam's cover of Big Bird?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm
Alex of Chicago:

I bought my first Burger cassette this week now that I have a tape deck again. So that's done.
Avatar 9:23pm
acid casualty:

Who thought cassettes would be back? Never stopped listening to them, tho. Great for the vehicle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
mariano:

@acid casualty: Everything's going to come back. The next craze will probably be really degraded mp3s from the early Napster days. Reminds me of when Mad TV did a skit parodying the VH1 I Love the 80s-type shows, called I Love 5 Minutes Ago.
Avatar 9:28pm
Andrew Fetter:

The CD player in my previous vehicle stopped working a while before I got rid of it, but the tape deck still worked. Instead of going to the trouble of taping CDs to play in my car, I would wander though Goodwill finding odd stuff to listen to for my work commute. Relived a lot of previous music phases during that time. My current vehicle doesn't have a tape deck, and I was actually kind of disappointed when I noticed that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
Alex of Chicago:

I just wanted to digitize some 15-20 year old tapes. Most of them still sound great.
  9:30pm
Eddy in Australia:

@Acid Casualty: For some strange reason, cassettes quite popular down here these days, with the likes of Anti-Fade Records, home of Ausmuteants, etc.
Avatar 9:33pm
Holly in NC:

@mariano - you just made me laugh! So many of my Napster/Audiogalaxy /Kazaaa era files are at ridiculous <128k bit rates, but they seemed so wonderful at the time....
  9:37pm
Patro:

I'm in the middle of "What you want is in the Limo." Great read so far. Thanks for the recommendation, EFD.
Avatar 9:40pm
Holly in NC:

Lenz is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
efd:

excellent Patro, glad you're enjoying it!
  9:44pm
Eddy in Australia:

@Alex: I've recently unearthed my old tapes (circa 1980-1990) and they sound fine, too.
@EFD: Probably not a coincidence about Sunflower/Big Bird. In his last Weller book, Paolo Hewitt detailed many of those - how you say? - "uncanny similarities"!
  9:48pm
EL:

The show is making my day as usual. :)
Avatar 9:48pm

@Eddy in Australia - A very belated hello! I'm a little addled at the moment, sorry.

Royal Headache is in my top 1/3 band names. Great stuff too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm

@Eddy I recently got Ruined fortune and Ausmuteants albums. Glad their coming over here. Obviously, more research is in order.

The Thermals. I still love this.

I clicky-starred Violent Past. Thanks Justin, if you're lurking!

Toddophonic:

Driving earlier...I know I am behind, but Liverpool Echo and Rick & Sandy were a great 1-2 punch! Maybe you can lend some of that punch to your beloved Sawx.
  10:00pm
Eddy in Australia:

@Alex: Check out the Anti-Fade label (run by Billy from Ausmuteants); it has a good strike rate. Maybe EFD has the latest Hierophants 7" (Nothing Neu) in the new releases box?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm
Fuzzy:

Ghee Whiz and Howdy y'all!

Uncle Michael:

We're all getting lubricated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm
Alex of Chicago:

Still 1-1 in Chicago. But Danks is around 100 pitches already. I think Evan's Sox are going to take this one. We don't have a very good bullpen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm
efd:

We'll see, Alex - as T-o-T points out, the Sox don't have a very good offense at the moment!

Pronounciation problems. EFD? When in doubt, just say IDINA MENZEL. And i too am loving the MWalker LIMO bk (i wonder, nyc has Book Expo end of may. Will MW be there, or Holly G-W of Alex Chilton bio?)

Since someone mentioned CASSETTES, i visited parental units today and found a TDK D90 box, w red orange stripes around it (kinda Houston Astros-y). Plus, i posted on a diff commentbd that back in the 80s, i took a D60 but put 120mins of music
  10:27pm
Eddy in Australia:

@Holly: Howdy! I wonder if Noah is in the Dust & Grooves book coming out on RSD? Their shoot with him was great.
@EFD: I think Liars have been based in LA (or is it Berlin?) for a while now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm
efd:

@Eddy I kind of figured that much (and maybe had heard that a while ago, hence my doubt) -thanks!
Avatar 10:31pm

@Eddy - I did NOT know that Noah did a session w Eilon! I've got to check that out (after efd's show, of course) Thank you!

There was something really amazing that sounded sort of gothic and ominous in the next-to-last set, not far before Gap Dream. I am guessing that was Liars?

Ike, yes, most likely that was Liars.
