Thoughts on Colbert going to CBS, folks? His satirical right-wing persona is one of my favorite TV characters ever, and will depart, sadly. But he is very talented and capable of many other characters, as I think we will see.

Longer, @David_? Colbert is almost 50. The Colbert Report has been hilarious since 2005. That's like 9 years (yes it frightens me too). Before that he was hilarious on the Daily Show for years and years.

Seinfeld doesn't want to do that much work. He's too busy rolling in syndication cash stacked to the ceiling.
Avatar 5:48pm

david_ - who else do you think would be better? i honestly couldn't imagine Seinfeld being a good talk show host. Colbert has proven consistently sharp for years in a vaguely similar role talking directly into the camera. he's also as fast on his feet with interviews as anyone (and will continue to be even if he's himself, not a character). and he's had a successful show for about a decade now.
