OK kewl. It's all confusing. Caryn says she's making a bunch of 15$ pledges and then she'll email mike(?) to bundle them all up for a level of swag. What a weird system.

I just think it's weird that they're doing away with the Marathon account system because it's supposedly too much hassle, but having people make dozens of pledges and bundling them afterwards and dealing with the swag choices afterwards is not a huge hassle?

"Virtual Naming Rights" program -- a pledge of $180 lets you adopt an item here at WFMU central! See the website for what's up for adoption!
Avatar 3:58am
Caryn:

@fvh: It's just that the criteria that only "paid in full" pledges can adopt leaves me out, what with the monthly incremental paying. But usually, as the Marathon nears its end, Liz announces it's okay for those paying in monthly increments to also adopt. I think those paying later by bill are still left out.

I roll my own, both ways, if you get my drift, but I'm saving the FMU papers for posterity!
Avatar 3:59am
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

There is no paid-in-full requirement for adoption. That's an older policy.
Avatar 3:59am
Caryn:

I don't roll either way, if you get my drift. I too will simply cherish the papers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00am
Rob W:

Holy Mackerel, it's the Holy Mackerel!
Avatar 4:01am

@Kenzo: It would help if the adoption galleries didn't have the paid-in-full requirement plastered on every page. And not just written repeatedly, but in bold!

@julie srsly, it's the chickens' loss, I had 20 of them, I am a good chicken father :)

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Next year, the fixtures will be adopting you instead.
Avatar 4:05am
fred von helsing:

i've never been adopted by a fixture. sounds... strangely perverted.
Avatar 4:08am
Caryn:

I'm also wondering how the adoptions work with the bundling of small pledges. I can easily adopt something with my old SFL pledge, but now that I'm bundling lots of little pledges into a big one, do I just tell them to add up the pledges to see that I'm eligible to adopt?

@fvh: I adopted a shelf once. And I think I adopted the cassettes one year. It was all lovely. I was full of adoptive pride.
Avatar 4:08am
fred von helsing:

in Soviet free-form radio, STATION supports YOU
Avatar 4:10am
Caryn:

Man, pushed send before I finished: So I think the reverse might work out fine. Of course, depends on which fixture adopts you. If it's a weird one (like the crucifix or the odd toys), things might feel odd.
Avatar 4:10am
fred von helsing:

You don't want to be adopted by the KISS head on the 4th floor
Avatar 4:12am
Caryn:

But wouldn't it be lovely if the chickens adopted you, fvh? Like they knew you'd be a good adoptive daddy?
Avatar 4:14am
Caryn:

I wonder what the selection process would be there. Would Trouble place pieces of paper with pledgers names on them in the coop, and then whichever name the chickens would peck at the most would get adopted?

Speaking of video, I missed most of yesterday's 7SD. Is there some reason that the video is not on ustream unlike the other Marathon shows? Did Ken promise Andy to keep the video unavailable? Did something happen on video that Ken wants to keep out of circulation (since the audio is available, it can't be a language issue like that one time Ken kept the show out of the archives)?
