Use yr cell phone infrequently or moderately? Try prepaid services like Page Plus or Virgin Mobile -- send the $$$ you save to FMU instead! Page Plus can work w/virtually any used Verizon phone (but not iPhones) and uses Verizon's network.

Julie and i are offering some great prizes to give away during the show. Right now, Glenn Jones' wonderful "My Garden State" and Don Bikoff's ""Celestial Explosion." If you make a pledge of as little as $15 you're in the running for those prizes. And our Grand Prize for anyone who pledges at the premium level ($75) is Alasdair Roberts & Friends "A Wonder Working Stone" paired with the book "Electric Eden," a history of the British visionary Folk-Rock movement. www.electriceden.net

Joe McGasko was notably patient getting *me* squared away last marathon too: if you pledge anything instead of buying stuff - you can get a ♡ & get people off your case a bit for the duration (it's called a Marathon for a reason): I signed up for $10/month automatically - so it's affordable & helpful & goes on....

@LCD ? Battle cry? sounds more like me on the toilet with constipation :)
  2:00pm

well I intended it as such, hehe./RR: but if you do the $10 a month do you get monthly goodies?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm

I don't think you get stuff regularly with a Swag for Life. There's just stuff that gets sent out at random.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
Andrew Waterloo:

You might here this music in a seque on public radio at the most.
  2:04pm
LovecraftDude888:

ah ok..I see. that's cool. I'll prob. do that cause Spotify isn't even working right for me and no time to fire it up half the time! it's absurd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@LDude: I got a DJ Compilation & a shirt - I think - I donated one other time & it's confusing...not really sure how the swag works - altho' T-Shirts & CDRs are up my alley...
  2:07pm
LovecraftDude888:

I see...ok. Well in meantime ordered goodies on store...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah - don't quote me on swag details @ all here !...
Avatar 2:09pm
Whooda:

@LCD Had to Google to find what Spotify is: "Feb 5, 2013 - I've been using Spotify for more than a year now and it's great, but the more I use it, the more I realize just how much I need to leave. "
If its only music, FMU offers so many archives, streams and regular programming. I don't think Spotify will introduce new music before it's heard on FMU. Screw paying for Spotify.
Avatar 2:09pm
Caryn:

@LCD: when you set up a monthly payment, you get swag according to how much the monthly payments come to in a year, so the 10 bucks a month Swag For Life pledge gives you the SFL level t-shirt and everything below that level (a sticker, a goldfinch t-shirt, and one DJ premium).
  2:10pm
LovecraftDude888:

my friend convinced me to sub. to Spotify a year or two ago and it's ok but not working too well...sluggish..i don't even have time to mess with it much anymore.

Mike East:

Alls I'm sayin' is I can't wait to get my hands on that flask and rolling papers.
Avatar 2:14pm
Whooda:

@Mike that disrepair kit is a classic for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...the papers are likely to become legal to use sooner than the flask in public !...
Avatar 2:15pm
Caryn:

The only swag that doesn't follow the "get this and all the swag below this level" are the DJ premiums. For instance, if you pledge a mouse pledge, you get 7 premiums, but you don't also get the 3 premiums mentioned on the half a mouse level or the one premium mentioned on the 75 buck level. So, you get 7 premiums, not 7+3+1.
(Man, I hope this explanation makes sense, LCD & RRN63)
Avatar 2:16pm
Patrick of Jolon:

Makes sense to me, Caryn.
Avatar 2:16pm
Caryn:

I'll happily use the flask in public, since it won't have anything alcoholic in it. I'm foreseeing a flask full of cherry coke or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
Mike East:

I always have a really hard time picking my DJ premiums. Sooo much quality stuff that will never be released anywhere else!
Avatar 2:19pm
Whooda:

@Caryn Don't whip out that flask of cherry coke if your warming your hands around a barrel bon-fire next to hobos, they won't see the humor in that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It makes sense to your methodical mind Caryn ! - & yeah, Thx. (It's like when I try to explain something astrological to someone & think I'm doing my best - & then they ask me what it means...it's easy to fall back on jargon you are familiar w/)
...I wonder if that's not a European attitude - 'cause in the U.S. it's usually not worth challenging the cops whatever you have in the flask (maybe in N'Orleans it's legal?)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Andrew Waterloo:

@Mike, then it's finding time to listen to them

hmmm, i saw SAM AMIDON do a live set at an art gallery (3 yrs ago?). i don't recall him being so guitar-crazy.
Avatar 2:23pm
Caryn:

I know, Mike! I keep making notes on my DJ premium list based on what I've heard of the premiums on the shows. I have marks for "must get", "pretty sure", "on the fence" and "naah". Once I have enough "must gets" for a certain pledge, I can make a pledge. The first pledge is usually easiest. Then, it's two weeks of trying to choose between the remaining possible ones. Aargh!
Avatar 2:24pm
Whooda:

@Mike, yeah, I know that already, I just need the reassurance. One can never tell when they might slip into sanity, and by then it's too late.
Avatar 2:25pm
Caryn:

@RRN63: well, the cops don't really mind drinking in public too much, as long as a person is not under age or rowdy. So it'll be fine over here. I wouldn't try it in the States.
