Maybe I over state it. This is what I'm thinking: when I was a teen I had to make a 5 hour drive to find a record store that even sold a Joy Division album. Part of the experience of any scene was the EFFORT it took to sustain what you loved.

I've just seen ppl in rock who die too esrly and dont get a chance to hav their say and Dick is IT on NYC punk scene outside of Ramones. If he pitched it, he'll find a publisher who will advance him a load of cash because his book would sell well in the US n amazing everywhere else. My humble opinion.

...on one hand - you define yourself by Popular Culture - which is Trends & Fashions & Exclusive - on the other, there's the desire to Learn More & Experience More - they aren't always congruous...You tell people - you may not like this, but the people you like liked it! - & they still may not care...You can't do anything @ that point - & there's no accounting for taste anyhow...More to the point of some of what he's said: I used to not relate to Sinatra - he was dismissive of Rock @ times - & he was 'before my time' as a *social phenomenon* - but I learned about him later...
