Indeed. It is a good one.

Brother Ray:

Hear some Ladysmith vibe in there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm
sinner:

..interesting comment. Ladysmith was hugely influenced by vocal groups who came into being after the Fisk Jubilee's toured South Africa aroun 1900. The Fisk's of course popularized the quartet tradition in the US.

I was going to say the signal sucks, but then I saw my radio was on 91.0. And now it’s fine. Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
sinner:

JakeG--There are some terrestrial broadcast issues right now. check wfmu.org if you can for more info. WFMU is broadcsting on low power right now.
  8:31pm
Brother Yeti:

Actually the presentation was on the much longer recording of "Nearer to Thee" but anyway, this show... wow.

Kevin play THAT & you got my full attention.Sam Cooke ahhhh...relief. The GREATEST.
  8:33pm
Brother Yeti:

I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers back in the 1980s when it was such a crapshoot to get FMU on the old time stereo console. I lived in Bklyn with Bill Berger, then an FMU DJ, and we could only get reception maybe half the time.

Lonious Monk:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm
sinner:

Oh yeah Sean. This is a magnificent song. As good as it is it really only hints at the live experience of gospel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm

Rise William, Rise. It is still iffy reception in Brooklyn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
sinner:

Hi Lonious Monk! Welcome.
  8:36pm
JakeGould:

No, no. I was serious. My radio was at 91.0 and now is perfectly fine. I know the low power is an issue for some, but I don’t hear a difference.
