DYING from the cuteness.

Ps. It's apparently so cold in Chicago they've moved the polar bear at the Lincoln Park Zoo indoors. [www.waow.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Doug Schulkind:

It's a personal best! blogfiles.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Doug Schulkind:

@Jeff Golick
The Chicago polar bears must be just disgusted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Doug Schulkind:

Middle of the night last night, it was colder in Pittsburgh than at the South Pole.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Jeff Golick:

Well, unlike the Chitown bear, I do have "a thick layer of fat that [people] typically get from eating things such as seals and whale carcasses." Only sub in baked goods and chocolate bars in place of "seals" and "carcasses."
Avatar 5:49pm Jesse K:

mmmm, chocolate carcass is always something I look forward to the holidays for
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Jeff Golick:

One of my kids put Siberia in my iphone weather app. Noted that NYC was colder'n that yesterday.
Avatar 5:51pm hyde:

weather! what are you gonna do???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Doug Schulkind:

You bet your sweet carc ass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Jeff Golick:

...am just realizing that the old Dorothy L. Sayers mystery HAVE HIS CARCASE is not about a piece of luggage in the boot of an automobile. en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Doug Schulkind:

@hyde
I think complaining about the weather is one of the worst causes of climate change.
Avatar 5:57pm glenn:

polar bear vs. crocodile. who wins? p.s. - not that cute little dude. a full grown polar bear. nature's most perfect predator.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Doug Schulkind:

My Canadian dollars are on the bear.
Avatar 5:59pm glenn:

dorothy l. was a little out there, by the way.
Avatar 6:00pm ndbob:

Howdy glenn/ndbob/LJFW!!!
Avatar 6:02pm ndbob:

@Jeff that's great! One of my current reading projects is reading through the Lord Peter Wimsey novels - just finished the second one this morning
Avatar 6:02pm ndbob:

minus 10 here this morning - coldest I've been in is minus 33 in Jamestown
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Jeff Golick:

love Hot Lips Page
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug Schulkind:

I've been thinking about you ndbob. I figured you traded up a bit moving to Indiana.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Jeff Golick:

@ndbob: I am aware *of* the Wimsey books w/o having read them (story of my life, really). Worked for an audiobook publisher that released the full line. One day...maybe...
Avatar 6:05pm ndbob:

@Doug It's been incredibly cold in Jamestown below minus 20 minus 50 wind chill yesterday - they even closed schools
Avatar 6:06pm ndbob:

@Jeff been reading them on Oyster - which is great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Doug Schulkind:

The melody for this sounds like that for an old Jewish folktale.
Avatar 6:07pm ndbob:

right Doug
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Jeff Golick:

@ndbob: Oyster is a reading app?
Avatar 6:09pm hyde:

salt water or freshwater croc?
Avatar 6:09pm northguineahills:

I was going to say the same thing, and it also reminded me of an old Merrie Melodies toon tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Jeff Golick:

@glenn: was that a nod to the Mighty Boosh bit about who would win in a battle between a polar bear and a shark?

"When the shark is good and dry, then he pounces, picks up the shark, wears it like a long, grey hat."
"Shark hat."
"Very fashionable and efficient killer is the polar bear."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Doug Schulkind:

En Gee Aiche!
Avatar 6:11pm ndbob:

@Jeff Yep - at this point for iPhones and I think iPads..
unlimited books for $9.99 a month - so far Harper Collins is the only major publisher involved, but a number of small presses too
Avatar 6:11pm Matt from Springfield:

Shivery Stomp! Seems like a good night to burn a Fiery Stump!

Hi Doug and all Drummers! Nippy New Year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Heyo Matt from Springo!
Avatar 6:13pm glenn:

nope. i don't know mighty boosh. i DO know i never want to meet a hungry polar bear.
Avatar 6:13pm ndbob:

one of my favorites here Doug... I noticed last summer that you can buy cartons of Nugrape at Cracker Barrel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Doug Schulkind:

An absolute all-time great, ndbob.
Avatar 6:18pm Holly in NC:

Hi all! Bear cub CUTE OVERLOAD, you rascal Doug, you.
Bravely went out sans coat (but with big hat) to walk dog in relatively warm NC this am - a whopping 9° F ! Currently a sweltering 20°F (fanning self)
Sadly, my house feels colder. Lack of central heat is occasionally a bitch. As long as pipes don't freeze, no problem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Jeff Golick:

Weirdly, I don't think you can buy barrels of crackers.
Avatar 6:21pm Matt from Springfield:

@Jeff: Not since the very olden days anyway.
But, you can buy a single-barrel whiskey and crack 'er open...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Doug Schulkind:

Hello Holly! >>> blogfiles.wfmu.org...
Avatar 6:21pm ndbob:

Heya Holly!
Avatar 6:22pm Matt from Springfield:

Brrrr Holly! The temps were about the same in my area, but without a coat?!

Make sure to drip water from any pipes on the external walls.
Avatar 6:24pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, '69 World Series! The Mets find their way! And Pearl Bailey - her political/cultural commentary is as true today as it was on her record.
Avatar 6:25pm Matt from Springfield:

Scratch that - after a long day I was thinking of Minnie Pearl!!
Avatar 6:27pm Matt from Springfield:

Her WS is however, Wikiworthy:
"A passionate fan of the New York Mets, Bailey sang the national anthem at Shea Stadium prior to game 5 of the 1969 World Series, and appears in the Series highlight film showing her support for the team. She also sang the national anthem prior to game 1 of the 1981 World Series between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers at Yankee Stadium."
Avatar 6:27pm Holly in NC:

@Matt - oh, they're a drippin'. Cross fingers!

No coat because I need to make sure I feel warm when I go inside. Plus sadly I have a good layer of winter blubber. My textbook ectomorph housemate is the one who's suffering.
Avatar 6:28pm still b/p:

Friend of mine sang the national anthem at local NBA D League game the other night. She did great, but I was some nervous for her, what with all the lyrics trip-ups and note-achievement snafus famously associated with the number.
How did Pearl do?
Avatar 6:28pm Holly in NC:

Hi ndbob!
Avatar 6:34pm northguineahills:

In insomnia fueled boredom, I watched American Dad the other night, and noticed there was a Pearl Bailey HS.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:35pm listener james from westwood:

must issue forth into the arctic night to buy weekend party supplies. if you don't see me tomorrow, send the polar bear (he can retrieve the beer). thanks, doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Doug Schulkind:

Never heard of the NBA D League. Is that like a league of AAA farm teams or something?!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Jeff Golick:

Speaking of insomnia, Doug, that screen grab of your phone sez 4am. Wha?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Doug Schulkind:

Keep one on ice (cough cough) for me, Listener James!
Avatar 6:36pm Matt from Springfield:

Nice pickin' - thanks for pickin' this track.
Avatar 6:37pm still b/p:

Yah, "Development" teams.
Avatar 6:37pm glenn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Jeff Golick:

Ok, time for the D train on home...thanks for keeping my ears warm, Doug, and so long to all GTDSters.
Avatar 6:40pm Matt from Springfield:

Just make sure the wireless connection isn't frozen over, first...
Avatar 6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

@earrie: For me that was after the freezing slush last Friday--had to salt and dig myself out from that!
Avatar 6:42pm Matt from Springfield:

So long, "American GTDSter" Jeff!
