@Guido - I was thinking the same thing, that Jam track was a hardcore Stones bite.

@PKNY
Sex Pistols "Submission was a prominet Kinks Riff.
better stolen riffs tha bad ones ;-)

well deserved re-discovery of Stray.
Of of my odd 2nd-hand-finds years ago,
but found that record appealing after repeated listens.

nevermind that, heard some Chasidic dude who was kidnapped robbed Friday night was found in dumpster in Getty station over here in Great Neck! Nice! But I read he was some kind of hideous slumlord or shady developer. Urghh Nothing like the smell of burning charred flesh as you run out to the mart to get a coffee!

I'd sooner go upside down in a hovercraft backwards with no wetsuit across Eng. Channel than get in a small plane. For sure.

guys, i have a friend from Newcastle and is an orig. punk 76 etc. and cannot stand The Jam!! I cannot figure it out. Anybody know anybody British who hates them? I'm like..I'm American and I'm the biggest Jam fan ever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm
Guido (Cologne):

jam is MOD-Revival, NOT PUNK (as such) !!!
Avatar 5:50pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...it's because they're Mod of course...but migawd they were Huge over there...
  5:51pm
LovecraftDude888:

I know I know..that's true. Well anyway....you know what I mean. I think she just never liked Weller's voice or whatever. God knows
  5:52pm
LovecraftDude888:

But I'm a Yank and always thought of The Jam as being part punk or imbued with the punk spirit....or something. It's different perception over here I think. Although once I heard The Style Council I was like...er...I dunno what he was doing! But I caught on later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm

Classic break beat record right here!
  5:54pm
LovecraftDude888:

I mean, I'm talking back in 1984 hearing TSC on radio here WLIR, etc. I was too young to realize how radical it was compared to The Jam since I barely knew the latter then. I did sort of. To me it was all of a piece...M+M...Echo...The Smiths. whatever, at that point.

that's prob. true. Some dude was dressed as Gumby
3 yrs ago at Peter Murphy show in NYC and nobody would
even pay attention here.

I hate the Jam. Like the Kinks, the Who, the Smiths, Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath. All British bands. But the Jam’s sound and their fans are some of the most irritating anglophiles I have ever met. Worse than Smiths fans & I like the Smiths!

...I don't know them - so I just like the rekkids!...

Really...geez man. I don't think I'm that bad. I was big into The Smiths in HS etc. and late 80s but have gone off them more or less these days, I fear. But I once was huge into them. More into Echo and Bunnymen if anything now
