Tomorrow I fulfill my sacred duty by visiting wfmu world domination headquarters. In my sleep I will be visited by the ghost of terrible music past, the ghost of terrible music present, and the ghost of terrible music future. I will awaken plastered with food stickers, and foreswear all further contact with Rush.

I don't know what to do with my food stickers so I use them on letters I send to Federal Prisoner, John Kiriakou, but fear it is in bad taste because he complains so much about prison food.

Ja-they were good at the "wintry" sound.
That was Vince Guaraldi's secret weapon when he scored the original Charley Brown X-mas---
he was good at the "wintry jazz " sound
  5:32am
pierre:

of course this one is the best…
Avatar 5:32am
Matt from Springfield:

Now what's this about--the sexy daughter of Father Christmas? :)
Avatar 5:34am
Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: It's almost a chicken/egg riddle for me--does Guaraldi help the wintry feel of the Christmas special, or do I think he sounds wintry because I always associate it with that special?
  5:35am
P-90:

Ce moment de l'année, c'est quand nous sommes touts "les filles du Père Noel," non?
  5:37am
pierre:

@Matt from Springfield : it's the story about the daughter of santa, meeting the son of THIS GUY : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Père_Fouettard

in french christams tradition, this guy's suppose to whip naughty kids.
Avatar 5:37am
Matt from Springfield:

Ha ha! Merry Christmas Maggie, from us LIVING!
  5:38am
P-90:

@ M from S: Yes there is no doubt a "wintry" style of playing Jazz, check Brubeck's Christmas concert records, and Guaraldi was hired because Schulz liked Brubeck and Guaraldi could nail it

Ah, merci pierre! That's a good subject of song. "Father Whipper"! The Companions of St Nicholas as Wiki calls them. That's what America lacks--lately we've become enamored with the German Krampus though, so there's hope yet for us...

Hooray! Playing a Pretenders Xmas song on the radio--that ISN'T "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"! Brava Julie! :)

I had to see The Runaways movie after Cherie's interview here--great film! Too bad The Runaways themselves never put out a "Christmas Album"--I'd love to see how aggro they'd take the subject!
Avatar 5:48am

Wow, at least you're presenting a "solo" Runaways Xmas, gradually! :D

The Solstice with the Mostest, FVH!

@Meghan: I'm okay when they perform covers ("Frosty The Snowman", "Strange Fruit"). It multiplies their style by applying it to existing songs. But their own music? Just doesn't seem like a "real" CTs song that way.
  5:54am
P-90:

No they weren't the same without him. But Hynde was certainly inspired to write a bunch of great melancholy pop songs
