I was really into Renaissance as a young teenager. The AOR station where I grew up regularly played Renaissance. I haven't listened to them in about 25 years. Now I realize where I got my like of prog from.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm
Irene Trudel:

@Tim, so was I. Pretty much have most of Renaissance's albums. I saw them play at Fairleigh Dickenson University in Madison, NJ back in the late 70's, and not again until about 2010, when they played a really great NYC show outdoors in the summer of 2010. They certainly were a big influence on me.

It's not fair that you have this Wieselman before the rest of us!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
tim from champaign:

I had no idea they reformed, Irene. I had most of their records too. Even their later "new wave" record. Camera Obscura? I don't have them anymore but I still see them for cheap in the used bins. Might have to pick them up again.

peter:

Great show Irene. always a treat listening to your shows.
The fair was overwhelming for me. Saturday was mad packed.
Tennessee Valley, up in Marin. wow, I hadn't thought of that place in ages. Truly one of the great nature places to visit in the bay area. it's like one hill over from Muir Beach, on the trail that follows the cliffs overlooking the ocean.
  1:51pm
van:

Sandy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks peter! Fun to share my finds with listeners. The fair's always a bit overwhelming but I love running into people while I'm searchin' the stacks. I'm definitely gonna have to find Tennessee Valley next time I'm out in San Francisco.
  2:06pm
peter:

it's the second Sausalito exit, coming from the bridge. There are several trails. the ones that go up to the mountains can be other worldly, depending on the weather. I once experienced clouds rolling over us, in bright sunlight. The marsh you pass can get so loud with the wild life... I'm curious if Doug Wieselman has a piece with that on it.
peace

I've not heard the rest of the album yest, but possibly he's incorporated some of those sounds into it. I'll have to ask.

We're having my folks over for dinner on Thursday. Here's what's on the menu: brined Turkey, mac & cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, garlic brussel sprouts with toasted almonds, citrus kale salad, homemade dinner rolls and apple pie. Not looking forward to my mom but really looking forward to cooking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm

no stuffing, tim?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
tim from champaign:

Nope, not this year, Mike.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm

that's what I'm in charge of this year. And I'm gonna make some herb potatoes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm

...never done stuffing before...a little nervous, very excited.

van:

Sandwich of sliced turkey breast lunch meat on wheat for me. Might go all out and add a slice of cheese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
tim from champaign:

Yeah, I find the idea of making stuffing to be daunting for some reason. Herb potatoes sound deeelicious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Mike East:

oh they are...the key is to par boil the potatoes before roasting

Glad you like the brussl sprouts dish, Irene. I've made made garlic brussel sprouts before. I thought it might be fun to try some freshly pan toasted almonds on it this time around.
