FVH- we have portable gear. That is how a lot of off site broadcasts happen. But if we put that in the performance space then we don't have it for off site stuff. We did use it in the performance space for the Hoof and Mouth this past year

FVH plenty of offsite broadcasts, Rob Weisberg does them all the time. And record fair. And Barcelona.

Ah Renaissance :-D
Right, Weisburg seems to come on in the middle of the night here. So how much stuff do y'all ship to Barcelona ? There's like multiple venues you broadcast from ? When I said "not too many" I meant, I'd think WFMU would have some nice arrangements with lots of NY/NJ venues. Throw the gear in a truck and go :-D but I've never done this mobile stuff myself so I don't know what the headaches and routine crises and potential hernias are

Doing remotes are not easy! Finding an engineer to do them is hard and throwing stuff in a truck means you have to have one first. Not many people here have cars. As for Barcelona, we bring a lot of wav recorders and plug directly into the board. Then they run back and edit it

Wow, you used to speak Italian, Julie? Did you take that in school, or spend time in Italy?
Avatar 🦇 5:05am
Julie:

Took it in school, high school and college. It's mostly gone, although when I went to Tuscany a few years ago I could understand some of it
Avatar 5:10am
Matt from Springfield:

Nice language, hard to find it in some schools, similar to other Romance languages I guess. Italy is a great place to visit though.

In fact I first thought that album and band name was Latin, it's so similar--Camerata Mediolanense prob means "little chamber of Milan".
  5:12am

we did italian in high school, only yr 7-9, cos yr 10-12 was japanese.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31am
Meghan:

FVH, we have nicer more expensive WAV recorders than a Zoom! You also have to keep in mind that what you saw was the set up for KEXP. They are a commercial station who gets funding from lots of places. We are NOT commercial, so we don't have a disposable income like they do. We have to budget out our money.
Avatar 5:31am
Matt from Springfield:

Smooth early 90s sound in newer songs, these last few tracks.
Avatar 5:34am
Matt from Springfield:

@Meghan: Not technically "commercial", but as part of the NPR network KEXP is receiving government, corporate, university and foundation grants--NONE of which we receive, or ask for!

Like the mendicant friars, FMU is a "mendicant" (begging) station!

Matt from Springfield:

Beautiful singer! Love this folk from Turid.

Avatar 5:41am
Matt from Springfield:

@Andrew: Check out his early, '65 era recordings when he was essentially influenced by early Dylan. Very acoustic and troubadour.
Avatar 🦇 5:42am

Not Dylan! Guthrie..he always points that out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42am
Meghan:

Wow, Gus Gus going into a trance sound.... I have never heard this! ha!
Avatar 5:42am
fred von helsing:

Better recorders I hope so! Frickin' Zooms. NPR? OK. Their main d00d was saying that they and WFMU are about the only stations that can tell everyone to stuff it except the FCC and their listeners. Their board is only 2/15 from the university. He rattled off some other call letters (WNYC,...) that he said were not so lucky.
Avatar 5:43am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: I remember "Ruby Tuesday" during your last Tuesday show--if you'd thought of it then, you could have then played "Jersey Thursday" on the first Thursday show.
