Fromag! VT in the house.

Hey there bloopy, Wendy, pss, Parq.
Avatar 9:07pm
Dave Mandl:

We've got a visitor from London with us tonight, so I have to be on my best behavior.
Avatar 9:07pm
Dave Mandl:

Sorry, "behaviour."
Avatar 9:11pm
Droll:

The Constable from Canterbury about some so-called "prog"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm
pacific standard simon:

The High Sheriff of Cheese-and-ham said Dave's not playing enough prog.
  9:27pm
bloopy:

do you have any Caravan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
pacific standard simon:

By the way, Droll, I'm no longer tethered to the ferry. I got a job on the island and haven't been off it since July.
Avatar 9:27pm
HollyT:

Hiya Dave.
  9:28pm
sb:

Keeping Up is one of the most beautiful songs I know. Thanks so much for playing this stuff and telling us about the reissue!
Avatar 9:28pm
Dave Mandl:

Hey Holly.
Avatar 9:29pm
Dave Mandl:

@sb: Yeah, this is a great record, very underrated.
Avatar 9:30pm
duke:

Hello everybody
Avatar 9:34pm
Dave Mandl:

Hey, Duke.
Avatar 9:38pm
Droll:

PSS, Gone native already? Surely you cross the Agate Pass to the peninsula from time to time to buy fireworks... Oh, now I see your point!

Next time you come to the continent we should drink beer. Bring some of that fancypantz vodka or gin they make over there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm
pacific standard simon:

So much for your best behaviour, Dave!
Avatar 9:43pm
Droll:

Ladies W.C. It's true: www.coverdude.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm
pacific standard simon:

Augh! That's hilarious!
Avatar 9:45pm
Dave Mandl:

That's it! Though what we have is a B&W xerox copy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm
pacific standard simon:

NO HOVERING!
Avatar 9:46pm
Droll:

I think Irwin calls this "Smelly Hippie Music".
Avatar 9:46pm
HollyT:

haha, that's great.

Carmichael:

Hello Dave. Tuned in from the Coast. Ladies WC is great proggy rock stuff!
Avatar 9:48pm
fleep:

I was expecting more of an echo.
Avatar 9:48pm
Dave Mandl:

Hi Carmichael. Yeah, they don't make 'em like that anymore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm
pacific standard simon:

What the hell -- was that an old school sawtooth wave generator?
  9:56pm
Carmichael:

@droll: filthy hippie music. Parmegiani is always a great play, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm
pacific standard simon:

Think about it, you filthy hippies; Maxwell's is no more, WFMU needs this performance space!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm
pacific standard simon:

And right at the point where you guys launched this campaign, YouTube changed the code on its embedded videos so that if you click on Ken's spiel, it plays with the sound muted by default!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm
pacific standard simon:

What is it about oud music that makes me so happy? It's like Gomez Addams when Morticia speaks French.
Avatar 10:15pm
Droll:

Carm, I stand corrected. And I don't know how you knew what I'm making in the kitchen could use some, but I don't have any Parmigiano.

Ahhhh, I love a good flanged chorus or turnaround.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
pacific standard simon:

Toe cheese, Droll. Learn to improvise in the kitchen.
Avatar 10:25pm
Droll:

. o O ( At least one person out there with a laptop and sampling software understands "transformative" )

PSS, Only toe jam in the fridge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
pacific standard simon:

@Droll - good, watch out for the toe marmalade, the nail clippings are a bummer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
pacific standard simon:

I found a Plunderphonic 2CD box with a book at the Island Public Library, and cheerfully ripped the discs. How times change.
Avatar 10:42pm
Droll:

As soon as the adult supervision leaves - BAM! Out comes the other 2%. So predictable.
Avatar 10:48pm
Dave Mandl:

True. They should station a police officer here in the studio during my show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
pacific standard simon:

Wow, it's only been us west coast guys and Dave on the playlist for the last hour...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
pacific standard simon:

I've had King Crimson's Great Deceiver (5+ hours!) on my MP3 player for the past week, Droll, so you may be outnumbered.
Avatar 10:59pm
Dave Mandl:

@pss: That's such a great set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm
Andrew Waterloo:

the muted embedded video thing is really annoying
Avatar 11:15pm
Droll:

I'm outnumbered for what?

YouTube became really annoying when "You" stopped referring to the amateur video makers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
pacific standard simon:

@Andrew, I know, someone much younger than me had to explain it to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm
pacific standard simon:

Now I have a powerful craving for the complete works of GONG.
Avatar 11:29pm
Droll:

I have craving for some Zeuhl. You know Mandl's carrying Magma around. And by "carrying" I mean "the only cassette in his car".
Avatar 11:38pm
Droll:

Good lord, why haven't I heard this album before? Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Jay Berliner, Ron Carter, and Billy Cobham!
Avatar 11:44pm
T-Zero:

@Droll, I was just checking him out myself...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm
pacific standard simon:

I was just checking out the pizza that arrived.
Avatar 11:47pm
T-Zero:

@PSS: heh, that sounds good. I'm hungry, but settled for a muffin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm
pacific standard simon:

Although there were things that I liked about big-band music, I'm happy that it went away, because then it was much easier to hear solo horns again.
Avatar 11:58pm
T-Zero:

I do like the early big band music from the 30's and 40's
Avatar 11:59pm
Droll:

No shortage of soloing in big bands! Playing in a big band is more fun because the sound produced is so amazing. Combos are exciting and dangerous, but the sound of a big band swinging is where it's at for me.
Avatar 11:59pm
fleep:

Thanks, Dave!
Avatar 12:00am
Droll:

'Till next week, have a fun one!
Avatar 12:00am
Dave Mandl:

Night, folks. Have a great week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01am
pacific standard simon:

Oh, be that way, Droll!
