I feel like I never heard "Forever Changes" correctly until one of the CD issues in the '90s or so. A lot of depth and quite dynamic. So many US vinyl versions of that LP up until that time sounded dull and flat -- I guess it was tough to master because of the range and length.

Chuck Berry factoid according to wikipedia: In the late 1980s, Berry bought a restaurant in Wentzville, Missouri, and in 1990 he was sued by several women who claimed that he had installed a video camera in the ladies' bathroom. Berry claimed that he had the camera installed to catch red-handed a worker who was suspected of stealing from the restaurant. Though his guilt was never proven in court, Berry opted for a class action settlement with 59 women. It cost Berry over $1.2 million plus legal fees.Reportedly, a police raid on his house did find videotapes of women using the restroom, and one of the women was a minor.

The first time I heard "My Ding-A-Ling" was at a Chuck Berry concert in about 1970. A real crowd-pleaser, that one.

I had forgotten that I've seen Chuck Berry live. I'm so old that I forget having seen legends in their own time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm

I've heard the slowed-down version of "Jolene", and I'm a real fan of messing-around-with-audio, but I honestly don't get what all the fuss is. I love the original full-speed version (and will play it again as soon as this Irwin thing is done for the day) and I think it's fine the way it is.

It's amazing, RRG, that in 1970 Chuck Berry was already transitioning (transitioned?) to nostalgia act (though I'm sure he was great live). Kind of crazy how he really got there first with so much.

My relationship to all awards is complicated: whenever someone I like wins one, I'm thrilled about the recognition and proof of the awesomeness of the person or group I admire. As it was not archived, you must do your best to re-enact the program as you special commemorative edition. No doubt the listenership will swell for such a program. Specially if it is promoted on the station for the week before.
