I had to pick something up there once and they were playing Siouxsie and the Stranglers and I was singing along. That was a one time deal. I usually don't shop there ever.

	7:32am Meghan: When I worked retail and had to listen to horrible Muzak, I would go into another store and hear the same "tape" and want to go running! Then I figured out how to override the system and played my own stuff!

	7:44am PKNY: @RRN63: WVKR doesn't have an official stream that you can listen via iTunes or your player of choice, it only loads the web app. You would think that an 'independent radio station' would give you lots of options to how to listen over the web...anyway, I'm a computer nerd by trade, so I went through and figured out the link to their web stream. So try pointing iTunes to this link: 216.mtl-mg19.streamtheworld.net...

But they are already paying to have a streaming service, and I was able to figure a way around to listen to their stream w/o using their web app. Maybe they're using the 'web app only' approach to limit the number of people listening over the Net, who knows.

	7:55am Jim Devoid: 'Morning. Wow to all this WVKR talk, used to tune into them when I lived in the Mid Hudson Valley! Saw many bands at Vassar due to announcements on 'VKR!
	7:55am KP: Well im in NYC now. im not a total idiot.
	7:56am Chuck: Don't know either, PKNY. I just know they've let me guest DJ on several different shows! That makes me happy!
	7:56am Dave B: The only problem pulling a stream directly off the CDN like that is if that reflector/endpoint goes down (say from too many people streaming directly from it). Most likely Triton Digital round robins where the stream comes from, and the prefix of that URL will change dynamicaly based on server load.
	7:57am KP: Hicksville's most notable - or notorious - denizen was/is Billy Joel. He now claims Levittown. I am also from both towns.
	7:57am Dave B: Triton probably bundles their service / player into an affordable package. Some of the local market stations at work use em too....
	7:58am PKNY: @Dave B: yeah, that's happened a few times, where the URL has changed, and then I have to go through the process of 'finding' it again. So definitely not a perfect solution, hence why I wish they had a dedicated stream URL you could connect to with your player of choice.
	7:59am Chuck: These guys are almost as good as Poughkeepsie's own Greyhounds. Guess I'm a little biased because The Greyhounds are local...
	8:00am PKNY: But I do understand that the economics of being a college station has a lot to do with it. It's more of a 'I wish they had that' thing than a 'WVKR sucks' thing for me. :)
	8:00am Chuck: And the lead singer of The Greyhounds has a WVKR rockabilly show on alternating Fridays called "Jukebox Jamboree". Shameless plug!

	8:03am KP: I was shocked to find an upright bass is tuned like a bass guitar. I figured it was just a big violin. played one in grade school but didnt remember anything about it.
	8:04am PKNY: For example, I have one of these Infocast unit in my kitchen that runs Linux, so I listen to WFMU in the morning while making breakfast. Since it's not a traditional PC/Mac, I can't easily listen to WVKR, it would be nice to have that option.

	8:22am Ken From Hyde Park: Seeing we've got lots of comments about other stations this morning, I'll add this. I was listening to WAMC public radio yesterday and their hourly station ID included about twenty different stations on AM & FM frequencies. So WFMU has a ways to go.

But they are already paying to have a streaming service, and I was able to figure a way around to listen to their stream w/o using their web app. Maybe they're using the 'web app only' approach to limit the number of people listening over the Net, who knows.

	7:56am Dave B: The only problem pulling a stream directly off the CDN like that is if that reflector/endpoint goes down (say from too many people streaming directly from it). Most likely Triton Digital round robins where the stream comes from, and the prefix of that URL will change dynamicaly based on server load.
	7:57am KP: Hicksville's most notable - or notorious - denizen was/is Billy Joel. He now claims Levittown. I am also from both towns.
	7:57am Dave B: Triton probably bundles their service / player into an affordable package. Some of the local market stations at work use em too....
	7:58am PKNY: @Dave B: yeah, that's happened a few times, where the URL has changed, and then I have to go through the process of 'finding' it again. So definitely not a perfect solution, hence why I wish they had a dedicated stream URL you could connect to with your player of choice.

	8:04am PKNY: For example, I have one of these Infocast unit in my kitchen that runs Linux, so I listen to WFMU in the morning while making breakfast. Since it's not a traditional PC/Mac, I can't easily listen to WVKR, it would be nice to have that option.
