A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Labor question: My sinister boss, possibly low on digital tasks, is basically turning me into a janitor; maybe trying to make me quit. He hates UI. Isn't UI out of a payroll insurance fund in NY, tho? He doesn't contribute extra for each person claiming UI, does he? (It's an LLC.)

This show is helping my sanity, so thanks DJ.

I believe a LLC would contribute to UI. My last two jobs I received UI was a Fed job and a freelance job for a large marketing firm that was incorporated. So, that's all I know off the top of my head.

One can't collect UI if one quits. Either the contract has to expire, one has to be let go to be ableto collect. If you're fired, it depends on the company whether they will or not.
Avatar 11:57am
northguineahills:

...and it's not leeching, as you pay from your own paycheck (in the state of New York) into the general unemployment fund, which determines how much and for how long you can collect.

You're paying into a fund for the purpose of helping people that are truly in need because they can't find a job, not because they just don't happen to like their current job. You're not paying into a fund that should be viewed as your own piggy bank.
