Hi Doug and all!
Avatar 6:03pm northguineahills:

In addition to getting a job, I made a perfect omelette w/o it falling apart (I can cook, but the physical mechanics sometime escape me), and I scored 125 points on one move w/ Words w/ Friends. I was told I should play the lotto tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Doug Schulkind:

If you love this, thank me. If you hate it, blame Jesse!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi davex!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm davex:

And hi Jesse! I forgot, this is the tandem show, right?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Doug Schulkind:

I was trying to think of a joke using "thresher" but they all sounded too gross.
Avatar 6:07pm Jesse K:

I love it, I blame myself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Jeff Golick:

Congrats, @ngh! Remind me never to play you in WWF.

nice bed music--I just snagged this Cults Percussion Ensemble thing myself. It's pretty cool.
Avatar 6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

Cults Percussion Ensemble!

Whoa! That's what P-squared means! Welcome Providence AND Pittsburgh at once!
Avatar 6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

Loves me some Iranian Pre-Rev Pop!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Doug Schulkind:

Take it away, far away, Jesse!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Uncle Michael:

This whole concept makes me all mimsy in the wabe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm davex:

Pittsburgh vs. Providence, it's 1890s National League!
Avatar 6:21pm Jesse K:

hey hey Doug! Here we are here we go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Doug Schulkind:

Jesse, I ear you!
Avatar 6:22pm hyde:

for some reason, I'm suddenly hungry for a Primanti Brothers sandwich *and* an Olneyville New York System hot dog
Avatar 6:23pm Matt from Springfield:

Yeah! The Raj of Rock 'n Roll!
This would also work as borderline Bonzo Dog material.
Avatar 6:23pm Matt from Springfield:

@hyde: Wouldn't it be a Primanti Bros sandwich and a "grinder"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Doug Schulkind:

@davex
Good thing Jesse isn't in Philadelphia or Pennsylvania by-laws would dictate a fist fight between us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm davex:

Another good set, Jesse. I sense a theme, I think.

@Doug: Just drop your sticks and gloves, first.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Doug Schulkind:

Kaw Liga, done motherfucking RIGHT!
Avatar 6:27pm hyde:

@Matt from Springfield a new york system dog is just more iconic for Providence. Which I realize is slightly problematic since it's in RI, but there ya go.
Avatar 6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

The several mentions of "Pittsburgh" just now reminded me of something I just had to search for...

HORACE SILVER! "Pittsburgh, PA" from 1920, I LOVED that very early Jewish novelty record you played...it appears to be a Tuesday night Hannukah special from Dec 20 2011. That was a great one, I'm going to favorite that, actually!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Doug Schulkind:

Hell, maybe Jesse should just take the next 2 and half hours...
Avatar 6:30pm Matt from Springfield:

Listen to this! Later :)
wfmu.org...
Avatar 6:30pm Matt from Springfield:

@hyde: So long as it's an authentic Providence fave, I'll take your word for it. *Why* they call it "New York", I'll never know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm paul b:

More Darren Stevens than Mad Men, but I see the branding this way:
"The Drummer who Kaminsky from the cold" (if you've already made this joke never mind) .... What is this Silver Sand piece It almost sounds Cambodian
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Doug Schulkind:

That line is all yours, paul b!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm jk:

Doug, I can't comment except as you while we're on this side of 7. This set is straight up offensive.
Avatar 6:33pm Matt from Springfield:

So transparent, Doug! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Uncle Michael:

Kaminse firing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Doug Schulkind:

Ah, a flaw in the ointment (that you can't comment under one identity while playlisting under another). Damn you Kenzo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Doug Schulkind:

OK, I'll pull back the curtain. There IS no Jesse Kaminsky. I made the whole thing up. The shame. The horror.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm jk:

I'll vouch for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Doug Schulkind:

Yusef!
Avatar 6:39pm ndbob:

excellent set there Jessie!
Avatar 6:40pm Matt from Springfield:

Woooo, relaxing steel guitar for after work!

@Doug: I now open another separate browser (like IE or Chrome when I'm logged in with Firefox), where I don't log into the FS. I'm still a purist when commenting as other "characters", y'know!
Avatar 6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

AMAZING Jazz remix of a little children's rhyme!
Avatar 6:42pm jk:

Woof! I'm back to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Jeff Golick:

@hyde: (belatedly) Olneyville NY system! Thought the health inspectors finally shut that down?
Avatar 6:46pm Jesse K:

confirming: There are several New York Systems within a mile of my broadcast location.
Avatar 6:46pm Holly in NC:

Hello Doug & Jesse! **** @ngh - congrats! ****
Off to run dogs between thunderstorms, I keep missing brief windows of opportunity.
BTW, my phone died & am waffling on replacement options ... any android folks around? I can get a Samsung Galaxy S3 for very little $ - is the S4 really all that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Jeff Golick:

FAVING.
Avatar 6:46pm Jesse K:

This Los Piranas is crazy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Doug Schulkind:

Halo, Holly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Jeff Golick:

But...they wear gloves now, Jesse? Arm slings? Something?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Doug Schulkind:

The Colombia scene is off tha shizzle right now! (Or is it ON tha shizzle?)
Avatar 6:49pm Jesse K:

I can't confirm their attire. Since I'm vegetarian I haven't set foot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Doug Schulkind:

Fava beaning!
Avatar 6:51pm hyde:

@Jeff Golick nope. for awhile they were not letting them do the classic up the arm pile of dogs, but they're still there.
Avatar 6:51pm Matt from Springfield:

Turkoman song!!!

(I'm assuming this is the Turkic "Turkoman" culture of the Arab world, not to be confused with the Turkey Turks, nor the Turkmens of Turkmenistan or Turkestan...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Doug Schulkind:

@Matt from S
This is from Afghanistan. Not sure if the link is still good, but it's from the old Ghostcapital, here: ghostcapital.blogspot.com...
Avatar 6:54pm hyde:

@Jeff Golick but yeah, there's supposed to be an arm guard of some sort.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Doug Schulkind:

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT..
The show will continue on the stream and the playlist will switch over Jesse's page here, at the top of the hour: wfmu.org...
Avatar 6:55pm Jesse K:

This song is something else, Dick Spotswood recorded no?
Avatar 6:55pm Matt from Springfield:

Ah, kudos Doug!

In that case it's probably from the "Turkmen" of the north, like Turkmenistan. While there are many acceptable spellings of those cultures in the English language, I was making the point that human geographers tend to stick to one for each, so as not to be confused with the other, numerous Turkic peoples of Asia!
Avatar 6:56pm Jesse K:

*Spottswood
Avatar 6:56pm Matt from Springfield:

Don't throw yourself off the Tallahatchie Bridge!!!
Avatar 6:57pm northguineahills:

Thanks Holly.

Been absent filling out crap loads of pdf paper work the last 2+ hours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Doug Schulkind:

@jk
Which, the Kanui & Lula? That recording preceded ol' Man Spottswood, methinks. Might've been from a 78 disc in his collection, though.
Avatar 6:58pm ndbob:

excellent show Doug - and Jessie - catch the rest on the archive
Avatar 6:59pm Matt from Springfield:

I loves me Dolly Parton...besides being a nice vocalist and a kind, sweetheart personality, she is a GREAT composer of country songs. This one for example, and "Jolene", "Coat of Many Colors", "Daddy Come And Get Me", "Down from Dover"...truly a legend!! :D
Avatar 7:00pm hyde:

@Matt from Springfield agreed. and she still puts fiddles on her records, even now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm Doug Schulkind:

Go Jesse go!
Avatar 7:01pm Matt from Springfield:

@hyde: Viddles of fiddles! ;)
