Ken From Hyde Park:

VH-1 or some such channel had a show about Lemmy last night and mentioned Hawkwind briefly.

before he was kicked out for not doing the right drugs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34am
Sem Chumbo:

Good morning, Thomas and KFHP. Your remark about Lemmy sent me looking: "...during a 1975 North America tour in May, Lemmy was caught in possession of amphetamine crossing the border from the USA into Canada. The border police mistook the powder for cocaine and he was jailed, forcing the band to cancel some shows. Fed up with his erratic behaviour, the band fired the bass player. Lemmy then teamed up guitarist, Larry Wallis, to form Motörhead, named after the last song he had written for Hawkwind."

Thomas:

good Hawkwind doc on BBC4 or something somewhere out there... probably still on YTube

This Michael Prime track - field recording of bats feeding!

fred:

Good morning Thomas, Ken and Sem Chumbo. I like these soothing and calming sounds
Avatar 7:10am
Thomas:

Hi, fred. yes, a good track to start your day/week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15am
fred:

In my case, a good track to start the last day of the Sonic Protest festival
Avatar 7:25am
Thomas:

who you seeing today at the fest, fred?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29am
fred:

Les Reines Prochaines, Frederic Le Junter, Rene Zosso & Anne Osnowycz, Clarence Manuello, and Demolecularisation
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am
fred:

So far, my favorite sets were The Dead C, Gravetemple, and Plastobeton. I think you might like the latter
Avatar 7:47am
Thomas:

Oh I do like Plastobeton - haven't heard what they've been doing lately, though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am
fred:

They just reissued their first CDR as a LP on Tanzprocesz. I guess they've been busy with their many other projects
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54am
fred:

It made sense to have them play just before Palais Schaumburg yesterday. That set was pretty good too, I'm always wary of such reunions, but it worked
Avatar 7:56am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Program's CommentsBoard is a kindof weekly reunion; wary - but not thrown off this one yet...
Avatar 7:58am

...SonicProtest Fest sounds like a delightful thing...

- Looks like whole Hawkwind doc here :

fred:

@RevRab: it is, but going to every show is taxing at my age. So I took the week off from work
Avatar 8:11am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah - was taken to Pterrastock 5 (I think) in Boston more years ago now than I wanna think: Standing in one club for days as an OlympicSport. Also: @ Fests, every band has short sets, & lotsa equipment changing.
- Nevertheless - as close to my own 'Monterey Pop' as I think I will get. Now wish I'd taken many notes - but Being There the thing @ the time of course. Some things are greater to look back on & remember & say 'I was there' almost more than @ the time because of a headavhe or rain or some trivial pain in the ass like that...

fred:

@RevRab: At Sonic Protest most sets are around 45 minutes, though the last ones sometimes last longer. And the venue is different almost every day, and there are always a couple of weird ones (usually they stay put for the last weekend, makes it easier for logistics, and by that time exhausted staff)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am
fred:

@RevRab: that fest looks like it must have been a blast
Avatar 8:19am

- Sounds well-done, fred.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It *was* great. After three days, a band has to be pretty interesting to be notable - you've seen this kinda Psych & that kinda Psych...
- SonicProtest apparently more 'Experimental' - hence the wisdom of long sets...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am
fred:

They tried to book Brian Turner last year for a DJ set, but the schedule and money didn't work out
Avatar 8:28am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Enjoy fred! Thx for Intel.

Nice noise again
