Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Rats never bothered me. Now a palmetto bug, those I HATE!
Avatar 6:08pm
Matt from Springfield:

I've had grilled rat in Thailand--if there was a famine, it would be more than sufficient and quite welcome. But, the meat's very tough and dry; I wouldn't prefer to eat rat otherwise.

Clay and Pigeonnaires ! Bonsoir !

Palmetto bugs, bane of the American Southeast!
Hey Frances and Caryn!
Avatar 6:09pm
Caryn:

My only issue with rats is that they are incontinent and thus tend to leak urine all the time. Apart from that, fine animals.
Avatar 6:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

Bonsoir pierre! A rare live check-in to the Dusty Show for you! :)
  6:11pm
Night Al:

a palmetto bug actually chased me through my apartment once. I found my courage and went on the offensive and squashed that little bugger.

i love it when "the kids" say totes. hey clay - get off my damn lawn.

Hmmm, how many times does one go up the stairs per year, on average? 65,000 times between mishaps, my last mishap was about 8 years ago, hope I'm not "due" anytime soon...

hmmm. kinda the same thing, although i've never heard it called archivault.

Night Al:

Now that I think about it, I did have one of our 'Florida' fruit rats charge me while I shone a flashlight on it at the bottom of one of my walls while in the attic once. It made me retreat..took me off guard being charged like that. So I take it back... fruit rats are freaky looking and BIG! Scurrying aroung in your walls is un-nerving.
Avatar 6:20pm
glenn:

sorry. archivolt.

Well I've got quite a bit to learn about architectural arches!

measure twice, cut once. payday's friday. all you need to know.
  6:22pm
Night Al:

The way to kill a fruit rat is set out poison and take away all water sources in the structure. They go out to get water and then die. If not, they really stink after dying in your walls.
  6:26pm
jay inthe woods:

Holy crap, that voice. I can't not listen to this.
  6:26pm
Fredericks:

To Kill a Fruit Rat I read that book. I think.
Avatar 6:27pm
Oscar:

I'm not sure why, but Clay's stories with creepy protagonists are sublime.
  6:28pm
Night Al:

I have to say, I worked for Smokey Robinson yesterday and stuck around for the show. At 73 he still has it. The woman were screaming. The Tracks OF My Tears and Cruising were my favorites. Really enjoyed Going On A Go-Go also. Great band also.
Avatar 6:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Oscar: Most if not all of Clay's stories have a first person creepy protagonist narrating. Or else a third person narrator describing a creepy protagonist. His radio plays are like a modern Twilight Zone!

dale:

been listening whilst i folded laundry. darks, in case you wondered. still can't figure out how to fold my wife's underpants
Avatar 6:34pm
Caryn:

@dale: there are 2 main techniques: 1) just fold them once in the middle, creating a bow-like shape, or 2) fold the crotch up, then both sides into the middle, creating a little square.
  6:34pm
Ralphine:

Clay, maybe you could try a prog throwdown against Dave Mandl next.
  6:36pm
dale:

thanks caryn. that sounds like they would make good pocket squares like that

my mother always said 'they have me on rat poison - they're tryin' to kill me.'

You are untreated!

Night Al:

Have you ever thought about squirrels. If they didn't have bushy tails they'd be very rat-like. Yet they get hand fed by the old ones and treated much better than the filthy, disgusting rats...hmmmm.

"Fecal-Aural Transmission" -- Good Name For A Band.

Matt from Springfield:

@Night Al: They are rodents, and basically tree rats. I liked a car commercial that (for some reason) pointed out that their cute fuzzy tail makes all the difference.
Avatar 6:46pm
david_:

Saw my first squirrel of the spring the other day...
  6:46pm
Night Al:

@ Ratt from Springfield: I had some squirrels in my crawl space once. Just as annoying as rats in my opinion.
Avatar 6:46pm
Caryn:

@Night Al: but apparently slightly tastier meat than rats. Less dry. And it has been discussed that one of the issues people have with rats is the hairless tail. Mice are considered cuter with their hairy tails, as are squirrels with their bushy tails.
Avatar 6:48pm
glenn:

squirrels - rats with good agents.
Avatar 6:48pm

squirrels in the wall can be noisier than rats...

I often think of ladybugs that way—they're beetles that lucked out.
