This is just what the doctor ordered. Plus a blood test, and I just ripped off the bandage. What a fine welcome home, thanks Bethany.

The slow part sounded like the soundtrack to a Cold War spy movie where there's not much action and everyone's doomed, so "haunting" seems right to me. This part just sounds really really pretty.

Enjoy your broadcasts, Bethany. Keeping FMU highbrow.

Andante, the BEST of all Cantabiles!
Ahhhhh!!

Hi Bethany and Stochastic 440ers!
Avatar 7:33pm

The key to Highbrow Town is lots of dead air between pieces, and then the highly polished pear shaped tones of a male baritone announcer. But you're close.

Hi, Adam. Been lurking all show long.

@Matt: yes indeed. The movie channel is the only channel with stuff on at this hour.

Hello:

Bethany,
Are you refering to the Saint Paul show? Is the church in Manhattan?

This piece of music seems just fine for lurking.

Matt from Springfield:

Yeah Stravinsky!
Speaking of which, Bethany, you've GOT to do a fill-in on May 29th, it's the HUNDREDTH anniversary of his premiere of "The Rite of Spring"! We can all riot where we're listening!
Avatar 7:48pm
Matt from Springfield:

There really haven't been any good classical music-related brawls since then! ;)

Wonderful soundtrack to beautiful dreams...

@Caryn: Good idea, about time we had a tribute to Mysterious Manias!
@Adam: Of course. And respectfully sip wine and discuss during the riot's intermission.

@J4ff: worldly men •do• make passes at women who play classics.

Sorry if this has been talked about, I just got here, but is there any chance A440 will recieve a regular spot on the program schedule?

+10, Adam! :)

Agree with Adam and Hello--we must have at least an hour of this a week!

Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

@Matt: in addition to being a rogue, you are a gentleman. :-) Thank you, Sir!
Avatar 7:57pm
Caryn:

@Matt: Satie's "Parade" had a bit of a fall-out, but most of the great stuff happened in the ensuing trial, and not at the performance. Steve Reich's "Four Organs" had a great near-riot at Carnegie Hall. That was memorable.

Night, all wonders!
Avatar 7:59pm

@Caryn: True, "Four Organs" was the most recent comparable event. With a guy walking up to the stage and screaming "You WIN! Stop!" :)
  8:00pm
earrie:

Sunday!

Ditto
Avatar 8:00pm
Caryn:

@Matt: is that the woman who repeatedly banged her head on the front of the stage, wailing 'Stop, stop, I confess.'? Or a different listener?
Avatar 8:01pm
Matt from Springfield:

Till Sunday!
Avatar 8:01pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: Hmm, don't think it was "I confess", unless that happened at another performance!
Avatar 8:02pm
Caryn:

Who knows, maybe someone was walking up to the stage at every performance, such was the power of the piece...
Avatar 8:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

Sorry, it WAS Caryn! You were correct! :)

Gotta go! Have a wonderful remaining 4 hours of your birthday, Matt!
