*yawn* just a brief stop in to say Hi Julie. Have a nice show. I'll be listening on archive as always. Good night :)

Caryn:

Last night, all groggy, was looking over the coming WFMU schedule on the main page, and in my sleepy stupor, I totally confused Julie and Meghan, and kept wondering for minutes "hang on, I know they changed the clocks in the US, but it shouldn't change the programme times this much!" Couldn't figure it out for the longest time. D'oh!
Avatar 🦇 3:06am

Hi Van! Thanks! You thought I was Meghan? For how long?

Thinking "isn't there a show missing here?" when there really wasn't, since you were the missing show I was puzzled about. Sheesh...

Oy, it almost sounds like they're singing "Shia LeBoeuf"... Ugh.
Avatar 🦇 3:17am
Julie:

That would be something eh Caryn. Shia LeBoeuf sounds like food to me
Avatar 3:19am
Caryn:

Because that's what boeuf is! It's just beef.
Avatar 🦇 3:21am

And the Shia part?
Avatar 3:22am

Well, I don't know what food you'd associate that with in your mind. Up to you, really.

Tolkien loved Finnish - which alone makes it interesting to me

@RRN63: the closest relations are Hungarian and Estonian (and a bunch of tiny minority languages around Russia and Asia). Of course, many people also consider the syllables and vowel sounds to be similar to Japanese ones, even though there is no actual linguistic connection.

@Caryn: Wonderful, wonderful, and thank you! I needed the reminder to watch some Kaurismäki, and the other names are all new to me. I will begin my investigation tomorrow.

@Adam: e.g. Matti Kassila's "Sininen viikko" is often considered very Bergmanesque, so if you're into Bergman, that might be a good choice if you can find it.
