Show some crazy love for your wacky radio/stream team. Today is your last chance to contribute to WFMU in the name of GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO.

I have some massively appealing CDs to offer as prizes today. All pledges of $15 or more will put you in the random drawings. I hope you'll all pledge at least $75 to automatically receive my marathon premium, HEY MR. DEEJAY! (see it here: bit.ly...). A pledge at the premium level of $75 will also get you in the running for the grand prize, a 3-CD Afro pop fun-pak!

PLEDGE LIKE CRAZY!
Avatar 7:49am Van in DC:

Okay, while I play catch up on the previous show...ha! What a great group photo of GTDR! Amanda obviously was crazy hungry and needed a Snickers! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51am Doug Schulkind:

We could all use a Snickers or ten.
Avatar 7:56am Van in DC:

I wish my new driver license photo looked even half as good as any to the left there.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:25am Brian Trauma:

Quick hello/goodbye, Doug. Quality assured as ever.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am Doug Schulkind:

Warm breezes, to you, ndbob!
Avatar 9:06am Van in DC:

Well whatever it was it sounded nice. The bells and stuff. Melodic. And stuff.

Looks like I get to miss most of the first set. Have to make a house call to one of my users in distress, here at work.
Avatar 9:08am glenn:

is that the 1940's morning zoo? and when did morning radio shows actually take on that oersona?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am Uncle Michael:

What a motley crew. Faces for radio, indeed.
Avatar 9:11am glenn:

oh jeeeez. a barenaked ladies cover on g.t.d.r.? i'm sorta dismayed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am Doug Schulkind:

@Van in DC
That "bells" music you were hearing was Cults Percussion Ensemble. A group of Scottish school girls in 1979. One member of the group was Evelyn Glennie, the deaf master percussionist. Or I should say the future Dame Evelyn Glennie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Doug Schulkind:

WFMU does indeed accept pledges in the form of Stony Pony Wine!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:14am listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am joe:

Major props to whom ever it was that provided the station with so many copies of this this set to give away.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:46am listener james from westwood:

there's no way to predict what track will be an fmu crossover hit. there's a vibe they just strike. i imagine the new bin is the source of quite a number of them.

Avatar 10:59am glenn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Ike:

Glenn, I wish ours looked as good as yours. llibllib.tumblr.com...
I like riding them, but they're boring.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am joe:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Doug Schulkind:

Good day all, Time to make the doughnuts. Here's to Giving the Drummer and the streaming cohort A LOT!~
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:21am listener james from westwood:

my favorite jm in the am crossover moment: i used to work a job w/ pre-9am hours, so i'd listen to jm before the regular programming. during one pledge drive, some kind donor did a fund-matching thing on jm, so i pledged to double my money. the phone person, spotting my gentile name, said, "i have to ask you a question, but i don't want to offend you: are you jewish?" i laughed and told him i was a supporter of all of fmu. ecumenical, ya might say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Amanda:

I have a friend who works as a driver in the afternoons -- the person who has the van in the mornings assumed for years that my friend was an orthodox Jew because of what he had the radio set to everytime the guy started the van. (Funnier if you know how Irish my friend is)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Doug Schulkind:

Happy doughnuts to you, Marcury! I know they'll be delish.
Avatar 11:30am Van in DC:

Probably better than my salad I'm about to inhale.
  11:31am Elias:

Doug, did you do a show at WOBC in college? My brother and I did shows there when I was in high school.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Uncle Michael:

Careful not to get a radish lodged in your sinus.
Avatar 11:33am Van in DC:

It'll be a jalepeno I'm sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Doug Schulkind:

@Elias
YES! I was at WOBC from 1980-83. I was jazz director and then program director there.
  11:44am trish:

Doug, this is your last marathon show, isn't it ?

A round of applause to the long-distance dj'ing dj.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Doug Schulkind:

Yup, Trish, it is. My last chance to do my part.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Uncle Michael:

Big thanks to the entire GTDR crew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Uncle Michael:

I'm wanting to sing Oogum Boogum to this song.
  11:47am Elias:

Doug, me and my other kid friends during those years would call the station and request "Light My Fire". If someone actually played it we would then call and get really indignant that they hadn't played the Jose Feliciano version (which we specifically had not mentioned). That never ceased to appeal to the twelve year old sense of humor. This was in between pea shooter wars at Mudd Library.
Avatar 11:47am Van in DC:

heck yeas! * APPLAUSE * for GTDR !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Uncle Michael:

This is the track that floored me on the original Rangda show.
