This is bloody godawful play some Bob Welch instead! I'm going to bed....

This song is messing with me from a couple of different directions and I resent it.

Hello Therese & all! Boomgates drew out of lurk mode ;-)

Boomgates reacords are totally worth the ridiculous Australia-to-US postage rates.

That was an awesome track. Loved the descending bass.

lookin' forward to listening live from Seattle.

Welcome Peter! What's the time difference? Is it still 1991 in Seattle?

I'm pretty sure I saw some kids wearing flannel today, yes...

West Coast gets Therese in prime time, while New Jersey sleeps
Avatar 12:25am
KP:

I bought a flannel shirt in Seattle in October. Im set.
Avatar 12:27am
BadGuyZero:

When I lived in Seattle it rarely got cold enough to warrant wearing a winter coat. A flannel shirt was enough to keep one properly warm.
Avatar 12:27am
KP:

It was just a stopover. Airport PA was playing ... Nirvana.
Avatar 12:28am

Was it the "Grunge Lite" version?

It hasn't been 1991 in Seattle since 1994, and again for a brief period in 2003, after which it was all "performance fabrics" instead of flannel.
I still rock the flannels.
Avatar 12:40am
KP:

It was real thing, a bit above muzak level, louder in the facilities.
Avatar 12:42am
fleep:

Grunge in the facilities makes sense

Heard Nirvana, had a Seattle's best, bought flannel shirt. Cross that one off.

Seattle's Beast Coffee.
Avatar 12:46am
Droll:

KP, Huh.... I didn't realize it was still on continuous loop everywhere here. You just stop hearing it after a decade or two. I'll see if I notice it next time I'm hiking in my Birkenstocks under the Space Needle.
Avatar 12:49am
BadGuyZero:

I don't know if it's still there, but Muzak had a regional office on Broadway. There was a Jimi Hendrix statue on the sidewalk on the west side of the building.
Avatar 12:55am
KP:

Remember while ago Newsday had story on how Muzak was changing. This was before they licensed actual tracks but they were doing orchestrated versions of "popular" songs. When the writer was there they were working on "My Ever Changing Moods."

Hi Julie!

Did they replace the chair? I haven't heard it squeaking in a while.
Avatar 1:48am
Therese:

The squeaky chair is around here somewhere. biding its time...
Avatar 1:53am
Julie:

I love how BGZ is so well-versed in FMU equipment. Turntable 3 is usually the one i have issues with btw
Avatar 1:56am
BadGuyZero:

I listen too much, Julie. *hee!*

Ok...turntable 3. I guess it's CD #2 that's prone to creating impromptu dance remixes if you play a CDR in it. I'm getting the numbers mixed-up.

Wow. I've been drinking since Saturday afternoon , Monday morning all ready? Wasn't this on then or now? I've got to upgrade!
Avatar 2:11am
BadGuyZero:

It took almost the duration of that song, but I was finally able to convince Google that I wasn't misspelling transistors nor looking for info on UFOs or honey. There's eleven sleeve variations for that Tranzistors single. I will [probably] not be purchasing one of each.

Sleaze? Sounds like Verlaine.

How presumptuous of Bjork. How does she know that those songs parents weren't married???

Only Tomorrow is the only track I've heard from MBV. Is the whole record like this? It sounds like an outtake from Loveless
Avatar 2:49am
BadGuyZero:

@fred: The last two tracks on the album sound very different from the classic shoegazey MBV sound. My understanding is that most of the tracks were written back in the early-90s. That would explain why they sound similar to "Loveless." I like the new MBV album more each time I listen to it. I don't think it was worth a 21+ year wait. Had it been released in 94/95 it would have been praised. I think the two decade wait caused some people to expect it to be the best album ever made. At least they're playing live again. I'm looking to having my ears further annihilated by them in a concert hall sometime this year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52am
fred:

@BGZ: that makes sense. I'd like to see them, but I'm afraid they will be out of my price range. I'm guessing a ticket for one of their shows will be more expensive than the full week of Sonic Protest
Avatar 2:53am
KP:

Glad to hear it, BGZ!
Avatar 2:56am

Almost that time. See you Therese. It's been a wonderful weekend.
