Sean in Bristol, UK:

Hey Irene,
Great to have you back, hello to all your wonderful listeners, hi to Van, Kat, Matt, DCE
  12:10pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Went for a six km run this afternoon with a playlist of music you have played over the last few months, your choice of wonderful sounds got me through the pain, Irene!
  12:10pm
KP:

Sorry we missed you yesterday Irene. Did see you make grand entrance but lost track.
  12:12pm
Van in DC:

hi Irene, welcome back! Hi Sean & KP and everyone!
  12:17pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

This a little beaut of a track, hi to KP

Hi Everybody! Good to be back. Playing a few of my favorites from last year on today's show. Sorry I didn't get to see many of you at the Benefit Rec Fair yesterday. I had limited time to be there but hope you all had fun.
  12:19pm
duke:

This Ablaye Cissoko + Volker Goetze cut is great!
  12:24pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Ah, the wonderful Becca Stevens, I am in seventh heaven!
  12:28pm
DCE:

good day, Irene!

HNY, Irene! Hi, folks!
  12:32pm
Van in DC:

Certainly a lot to choose from, from 2012, just from all the wonderful live performances!
  12:33pm
KP:

Happy New year Van and Sean, have to tell you even a fleeting glimpse of Irene is worth crawling to the outback of Brooklyn.
Avatar 12:35pm
kat330:

Oh, hi, Sean! Just scrolled back and see you shouted out a preemptive hello -- that was prescient since I *was* listening from the get-go.
  12:36pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Irene, has a date been set for this year's annual pledge?
Avatar 12:39pm
kat330:

@Irene: On that same note, did you ever see / get notice of our pledge from December? I think you have to proactively go look at a database somewhere when pledges come in "off-marathon" or special fundraising times.
  12:43pm
Van in DC:

Someday I hope to make it to that record fair.
Avatar 12:43pm
kat330:

Me, too, Van.
  12:44pm
KP:

Listening on two iPhones. New one is a different system and proves a nice two-and-half second delay. Like real tape echo. Perfect for Irene music.
  12:46pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Nowhere Man was one of the many, many great tracks you played, I think I was around the 4 km mark when this track came over the headphones, sounds even nicer now with a frothing pint of ale right at this moment!
Avatar 12:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

Nice little nowhere tune here! Goes with the wet overcast weather well.

Hello Irene! Hello kat, Van, Sean, KP, DCE, duke and other Trudelites!

Happy Monday, Matt!

Howdy Matt!

Howdy!
Happy Mondays are possible mainly because of Irene--oh, and the band! ;)

Hi, mahrbel! Hope you are having great, sunny weather to send eastward.
Avatar 12:53pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi mahrbel! How's the weather in Corvallis? It might be similar to the East Coast weather today.

Irene:

Sean, the next Marathon starts Monday March 2nd and runs through Sunday the 17th.

Kat, thanks for mentioning it. I haven't been on since then so I am grateful for the pledge.
  12:53pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Hi Mahrbel
  12:55pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Thanks Irene, is that March 4th, it's down in my diary, Spring Training, WFMU marathon pledge, life doesn't get any better!
Avatar 12:57pm
kat330:

@Irene: You are most welcome!
@Sean: Are you a competitive runner?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Irene:

Ah, you're right Sean. The Marathon starts March 4th. I have March 2nd in my brain because that's my father-in-law's 90th birthday. Gotta fly back from the San Francisco area right after that to make it to WFMU!
Avatar 12:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thank you Sean, just noticed your preemptive hello to me as well! Nice how everyone you greeted came on to this playlist today!

The regular Record Fair starts earlier this year, sometime in September.

Happy Nonagenarian Status to your father-in-law! Hope you all have a good time in San Fran!

Avatar 1:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

Good morning, now afternoon, KP!
  1:03pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

@Kat, I used to run half marathons as part of a running club, advancing age has made the choice of distance a more manageable 10 km which is now for fun.
Avatar 1:04pm
kat330:

PCP is an apt acronym as these cherubic cello sounds can be likened to angel dust.
Avatar 1:05pm
kat330:

@Sean: Ah. And I realize I misconstrued your "spring training" as something personal when, probably, you meant baseball? ;)
  1:11pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

@Kat, yes, the beautiful game, once you hear the thwack of a ball hitting the glove you can almost smell the BBQ, hot dogs, chilled beer and warm weather!
Avatar 1:13pm
kat330:

You are in the wrong country, Sean! Wanna swap places?
  1:16pm
KP:

Maybe for some Matf but I'm just getting ready to go to work and WFMU is going with me.
  1:18pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

@Kat, absolutely, Indiana is a nice State?
Avatar 1:19pm

Heh, well, it has its natural pluses but its political minuses.

Yikes! Joe said he'd correct that! It's "Knob Knee," INDIANA (not NY)! :)
Avatar 1:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

Now, instead of saying someone will "shit bricks", maybe the next step up should be that they'll "shit cosmic bullets"! Woah - gives a Donovan/Marc Bolan twist to it! ;)
Avatar 1:45pm
kat330:

But thank you for the shout out, Irene!! :) We were happy to know enough about the programming this past December to actually designate various shows for portions of our pledge. in 2011, we were greenhorns.

The Joy Askew album was in my top ten for 2012, anyone fancies listing their top 5 from Irene's shows from last year? A difficult task maybe.

What the world needs now is more dudes covering Kate Bush songs.
Avatar 2:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

Yes Julie! Like Roberto said, Kate is amazing, but a guy's take on Kate is welcome.
  2:31pm
Mike East:

@Roberto - I used to be in a band that covered all Kate Bush tunes. It was all dudes. Never made it to playing a gig, but the rehearsals sounded pretty good.
Avatar 2:33pm
kat330:

"Swap our places" "Running up that hill" -- Kate fits well w/ Sean & I switching locales, although he'd probably prefer I actually were from NY state and not Indiana. ;)
Avatar 2:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Mike East: You should have at least recorded a demo EP! Sounds incredible!
  2:43pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

This is a rather marvellous track, @Kat, does Indiana follow the norm of most States where quality beer is brewed, if so, I'm there, plus most cities and towns will have Minor League, heck, I'm booking my flight!!
  2:43pm
Mike East:

I know, Matt. Especially because the lead singer (who's idea it was) owned and lived in a recording studio.
