FACT: It is impossible to play AC/DC too loud.

Dance club Olivia comes out with the Archies!

@FVH: I'm sick of these hipsters saying that! A chat board is cool because no one's "discovered" it yet, then once too many come they just move on to another! Already the "East-East-Williamsburg" fanboys are moving on to the Dangerous For The Brain playlist, rumour has it... :)

I'm NOT gettin' back into bed! :D
  3:28am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I wish I could remember the name of the band that released a live album in the 90s that contained a parody of Paul Stanley's "Cold Gin" intro. They substituted names of over-the-counter cold meds for the types of liquor Paul mentions.

Matt from Springfield:

@FVH: Mixing alcohol and DayQuil is like speed--I won't say to "try it, you'll see", but if you ever drink too soon after DayQuil, you'll know what I mean!

@BGZ: "Peyote Cabinets with Malarkey Angel" drops in summer '14--supposed to be the "playlist of the Decade"...
  3:32am
Matt from Springfield:

Fortunate that everyone seems to be up right now! Appropriate too, since it's a dance party show!

Gary Numan!
  3:34am
fred von helsing:

@MvS Hmm the active ingred in DayQuil... It might take a bit of sleuthing to find it here in scando... Wikipedia sez "phenylephrine due to restrictions on pseudoephedrine sales. In other countries, such as Canada, DayQuil still contains pseudoephedrine."
  3:35am
fred von helsing:

But wait, there's more! "It should not be taken by people who consume an excessive amount of alcohol [..] Large amounts of caffeine should also be avoided if taking this medicine."
  3:36am
other david:

*starts a coldwave conga*
  3:37am
fred von helsing:

coldwave and cold medicine for cool critters
  3:37am
Matt from Springfield:

Since they clamped down on meth ingredients pretty much anything with pseudoephedrine has to be purchased and signed for behind a pharmacy counter. Since you can buy DayQuil OTC they've probably removed the pseuEph or reduced it.

BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Back in 1994 I got to spend a day with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. It was the largest variety of drugs I'd ever seen in my life...and I knew Al Jourgensen back then. One of my fave moments was walking into their dressing room to find them all drinking chocolate Ultra Slim Fast. L7 had left some behind and it was the only beverages left in the dressing room. One of the Bad Seeds was reading the ingredients aloud and when he finished he said "There's no ephedrine in this." Another Bad Seed reaches over and drops a pill into the can and exclaims "Now there is!"
  3:44am
Matt from Springfield:

Those lads!

  3:55am
Matt from Springfield:

@FVH: Computer power for their synths and equipment?
  3:59am
fred von helsing:

IIRC they ran their own sound mix, but also they had a media show mixed and projected onto this huge screen about 4m high by 10m across (worth a cool 15,000€, only weighed maybe a hundred pounds) - 8 people getting that monster up on stage and into place without ripping a hole in it was a real thrill.

It reminds me of Juliana Hatfield
  5:09am
Matt from Springfield:

"A more plausible source of the band's name is an actual Filipino prison gang founded in the 1960s, Sigue-Sigue Sputnik, "sigue-sigue" meaning "care-free" and "sputnik" a reference to the Russian-made satellite launched in 1957."
