We have a lot of low-flying geese that pass over frequently. They sound very similar to a some small yappy dogs neighbors have up the street. When we hear these sounds my husband and I now speculate: Geese or Dogs? Band name, though confused with Geezer Dogs.

  9:59am Honey Water:

Definitely Bruce Campbell's head w/ Mitt there.
  9:59am Robert:

Are the roach musicians from "The Apartment"? I'm a friend of a friend of its star.
  10:00am Michael:

Can corporations go to Hell?

While I'm here, I will point out that this is the eleventh anniversary of Ken's demonstrating what a DJ is by putting on 'O Superman' without even remembering that it includes the lines 'Here come the planes/They're American planes, made in America'---though even without that line, I can't think of anything better for that occasion.

  10:01am BSI:

JEEZUS, I missed Sarcastic Orgasm. The greatest band to come out of DC since JEEZUS.
  10:02am Robert:

Does look like Campbell, but I'm pretty sure it's Romney's head, illustrating the technique whereby all you do is enlarge or shrink someone's face features A LITTLE, put them back in place, and get a completely creepy image.
  10:02am G:

The vocalist sounds like Thom Yorke with severe indigestion pains
  10:03am dcp:

PLAYMOBIL GUY!!! My son would love that...
  10:03am Uke Goldberg:

Thank you!!
  10:04am Honey Water:

@Robert: Yeah, I knew it was Mitt's head -- just sayin' Campbell should be Mitt in the biopic -- not Alec Baldwin as his sons suggested.
  10:05am Robert:

The name I forgot above is Jerry, whose last name I still can't recall at the moment, who went to NYU with Damon Lindelof. Jerry was one of Damon's poker buddies I didn't get to meet.
  10:06am Cheri Pi:

yay for Crash!
  10:06am Honey Water:

To fit Mitt's personality, the features shouldn't just be minimized; it should be featureless.
  10:07am Robert:

Campbell should be everyone.
  10:08am fofo (:

This song (Vaughan's Ballad) makes me so happy! I googl'd them last week and I was so in shock to realize they recorded it in the early eighties! I felt sad too because they are not around anymore.
  10:10am Robert:

Anyway, it was only this year that I figured out Damon's serial "Lost" was a take-off (heh) on "The Lost Special" by A.C. Doyle, plus all its cx.
  10:10am Uke Goldberg:

Ken, I don't think that's not the right show.
  10:11am Dan B From Upstate:

Been a while since you've played Crash, Ken. It's much appreciated.
  10:12am Honey Water:

Ja wohl, these dudes are actually sounding sexy auf Deutsch.
  10:14am Mike East:

That orangutan is kind of a jerk, but he's hilarious!
  10:14am Robert:

The monkey is learning how to pick up chicks.
  10:15am fred:

@fofo: Crash is long gone, but Thierry Müller (aka Ilitch and Ruth) is active and has 2 records coming soon
  10:17am Robert:

Only one problem: How does the monkey see the front of the man from that angle? So I suspect video paste-up, actor imitating monkey.
  10:17am MD:

Good morning World....
  10:18am Robert:

The reflections in the glass don't match the passing people either.
  10:18am dcp:

  10:20am Honey Water:

So is the guy in the top .gif being hypnotized? What's he looking at?
  10:21am fofo (:

Fred,
Thanks, nice to know! And boy, am pretty amazed one single musician became two others! Talking about cell division music skills.
  10:24am Defenders of the Tang:

Man might have turned just before moment we see to make hand position visible, then orang only needs to see from back to see hands on hips, and knows that faces pressed together is a kiss cue. Reflections do match from that angle.
  10:25am Robert:

Honey Water, I think the guy at the top is a further development of the guy in these: http://www.vrilology.org/HOW VRILOLOGY WORKS.htm

You might need "%20" for the spaces in that URL.
  10:26am Michael:

Is the image of the woman and star-field[?] accompanying Crash from the movie "Lifeforce" (a.k.a. "The Space Vampires")?
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:27am Ken:

Look, the Orangatan can see from the guy's back that he's putting his hand on his hips, and the woman does NOT have her back to him. She's kind of facing him and she puckers her lips as she comes in for the kiss. So there.
  10:29am fofo (:

Michael,

I think is a moving-still from Altered States. But I'm not sure! Where are you Caryn?! Help!
  10:30am Bad Ronald:

I concur with Ken's assertion regarding the orangutan.
  10:30am Honey Water:

I'll second that it's from Altered States (Blair Brown).
  10:30am Mike East:

One of several tracks on Michael Shelley's Premium that is better than the original.
  10:33am Webhamster Henry:

Thanks for playing more hooky, happy music this morning, Ken!
  10:33am fofo (:

People, the key questions here are 1) who's the lady and 2) what's the name of movie where she appears? in the gif at the Yo La Tengo-I Saw the Light?
  10:35am Michael:

Sharon Tate, "Dance of the Vampires".
  10:38am fofo (:

Oh, yes Michael ! But perhaps you mean The Fearless Vampire Killers. But damn: Another one special person that really is not around anymore with us.
  10:40am Dave:

I like this version of Rhiannon better than the original.
  10:41am Mike East:

wow. never knew this song was called Rhiannon, and that that's what they sing in the chorus...and I agree with Dave
  10:41am fofo (:

The feline safe transportation system looks legit.
  10:45am Cecile:

I think the originals on both of the covers are way better.
  10:47am tim from champaign:

Ken, could you follow this up with some Puffy Aeriolas?
  10:47am fofo (:

The problem with the Radiofrigo is that it cannot play Radio Hot Hits. Imho kind of WFMU-esque.
  10:49am BSI:

I confess I never knew the name of the tune or what any of the words were. My brain doesn't seem to give a damn about lyrics, esp. in pop tunes. It took Big Blood's cover of HEART OF GLASS for me to suss that one.
  10:50am BSI:

...referring to Rhiannon...
  10:50am BSI:

...whereas my wife effortlessly picks up on lyrics. A left-brain/right-brain thing perhaps? Or more likely, I'm an idiot.
  10:52am Sam:

Sex, drugs and sugar coated puffy ami yumi is all my body needs!
  10:53am Dr. Sven:

Dude, that's why you should floss every day. Get with the program!
  10:53am fofo (:

BSI,
You are not alone. I don't pick up lyrics either. But I swear you I is not a idiot.
  10:54am bw:

tis true - in my dream last night Ken explained to me (whole holding a toboggan) the WFMU shower rules - no bars of soap (he was mad at me for putting one in the shower) only liquid gel and Luffas allowed!
  10:55am Sam:

BSI, I think it's because men are instinctively musical and women are instinctively verbal. Also men know how to see the big picture and enjoy themselves (music) while women like to torture themselves with pointless details (lyrics).
  10:56am Honey Water:

Is the no bars of soap rule so that there's never an excuse to be bending down for a dropped bar?
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:57am Ken:

bw, that was no dream, or at least the policy is real - we have ALWAYS had a rule against bar soap at WFMU, except for WFMU Miracle Soap. The fact that so many people ignored this simple rule is the reason I removed the shower from the second floor.
  10:57am dcp:

I'm very lyrics oriented but I are a idiot too.
  10:58am BSI:

HA! sweet vindication. Even some of my favorite albums that I've played since my teens, no idea about most lyrics. Drives her nuts: "what was that line?" "I have no idea..."
  10:58am dcp:

but if I had to choose, music hands down.
  10:59am popo:

that's gif's a keeper...btw that bacon pic is sweet, last time I was as the corner bistro I noticed the bacon pile which I could see from where I was perched at the bar.
It was huge, it was "fresh" (not placed in the deep fryer yet), and it was leaning against the brick wall and a fire extinguisher and some other wall mounted fixtures that are not likely approved for use in such a bacon rich environment.
  10:59am BSI:

by the way, Yay for the Berrocal/Jaki/etc! All versions of Rock & Roll Station are the bee's knees.
  11:03am northguineahills:

The gf is taking a bday vacay and she loves the gifs. Good Morning y'alls!

  11:04am Honey Water:

Congratulations on the job, NGH, the gf b'day and all! Oh, happy day! :)
  11:06am Honey Water:

Nothing better than a fine lyric, but if the music isn't topnotch as well, the lyric founders. Guess that's right/left in a bit of balance.
  11:06am northguineahills:

Thanks Honey Water. I was too busy yesterday to comment fully yesterday.

  11:11am Honey Water:

I have to hear a song thousands of times before I pick up on the lyrics, but that's just me. My gf is better then I am at picking out lyrics, but it still takes her awhile.

@Honey Water. I can still cook for the concessions for the big barn show!
  11:13am dcp:

Cecile: I think that's what everybody thought Man. Mann was singing. Unfortunate lyric choice.
  11:14am Cecile:

or "I'm in the mood for love. Simply because I'm near you. Funnybutt, when i'm near you..."
  11:14am The Boss:

Manfred Mann?
  11:15am Cecile:

Who can't pronounce the word deuce? I think even Bruce was perturbed by that, although I'm sure he cashed the checks happily.
  11:15am Honey Water:

Learning lyrics from a low-fi transistor radio was always a challenge in ye olden days.
  11:16am BSI:

@woman this...
whut? i'm talkin' left brain/right brain here. This is serious research delving into the very heart of perception. Now where'd that adrenochrome latte go...
  11:16am Sam:

Excuse me while I kiss this guy - Hendrix
  11:16am Cecile:

Boss, I know who wrote it. I'm talking about who mangled the lyrics.
  11:17am dcp:

Cecile, Boss, right but who really cares? I hate that song.
  11:18am Cecile:

Ken, play a good Mac cover. Or at least a funny one. Judas Priest's Green Manalishi.
  11:18am ranjit:

I just discovered that you can play all the music samples simultaneously on Rockabye Baby's album pages. Highly recommended. http://www.rockabyebabymusic.com/ecom/music/rockabye-baby-lullaby-renditions-of-bob-marley
  11:18am Cecile:

dcp, yeah, it's not my favorite.
wow, Billy sounds like hell, and not in a fun way.
  11:19am Sam:

If the lyrics are hard to understand I invent my own lyrics that sound similar to what they're saying. When I discover the real lyrics I'm usually disappointed because they're not as good. Then if I start singing along with my own lyrics people get annoyed and say I'm singing the "wrong" lyrics, without realizing that the real lyrics are not sacred or even intelligible, and songs are meant to be enjoyed and screwed around with, not put on a pedestal and worshipped.
  11:19am BSI:

That pug is gonna have an olympic headache when it's done.
  11:19am Cheri Pi:

good one Ken.
  11:19am dcp:

Hey this is a pretty good cover by Gibbons.
  11:20am Mark:

not if you know the original
  11:22am Cheri Pi:

I loved the darkness of it.
  11:22am Cecile:

hahahahha, Ken.
  11:23am northguineahills:

When I was 4 in the Wrangling Western Wear store, I was singing "Duval, Duval, County" instead of "Ewwhah, Ewwhah, Kitty, tell me about the boy from New York City", and a young couple starting laughing at me and asked me to sing it again.

(this was outside Jacksonville, FL, that is part of Duval County).
  11:23am giselle:

dr bootygrabber! awesome!! does he grab booties?
  11:24am BSI:

@Sam: also, I've found that once I "get" lyrics, it usually guarantees a terrible, long spell of earworm affliction. So maybe this blind-spot against singing is a defense mechanism. Research continues...
  11:25am Sean Daily:

YES! SLAY YOUR FOE, DOCTOR BOOTY-GRABBER, AND WE SHALL HAVE A FEAST! It'll be Fancy Feast and, you know, only if I can get them 3 for a dollar, because I'm not made of money, BUT WE SHALL STILL HAVE A FEAST!
  11:25am Cecile:

giselle, and how!
  11:26am Marmalade kitty:

I was at first wary of the new Dylan album.. but i loved it! Give it a listen
  11:26am Cecile:

SEAN AND MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT IN THE CRYSTAL CAT DISH!
  11:26am Honey Water:

Local public radio has been playing about 3 tracks of the new Dylan.
  11:26am dcp:

WHOA! you thing Billy's voice sounded bad, phew!..
  11:26am tim from champaign:

wow, this has got "target NPR listening demographic" written all over it.
  11:27am Honey Water:

@Sam: I've been guilty of the same thing and agree sometimes I've made an improvement.
  11:28am fofo (:

Sam,

I do something similar but unintentionally (but that's because English is not my first language). Say, for instance, The Fall's - Blindness. I always thought it was a song about a guy in a restaurant because he was always repating "hey man, how much is the omelette?" But in reality lyric goes: "Blind man, Have mercy on me".
  11:28am Carmichael:

I never thought I'd prefer the Christmas album.
  11:29am Honey Water:

@MK: You have the whole album already?
  11:31am Honey Water:

@Sean: Yet you want to "starve" a good mouser. Too well-fed, they'll just play with the prey.
  11:32am dcp:

funny: "This is commonly misheard as "wrapped up like a douche. "Springsteen himself has joked about the controversy, claiming that it was not until Manfred Mann rewrote the song to be about a "feminine hygiene product" that it became popular." -WikiP
  11:33am fofo (:

Dick El Demasiado!!! After last week show I did a little research about this guy, he looks like a nice old chap that in an interview forgets the name of his own songs! See? We are so passé in the lyrics discussion. Forgetting your own song's names is what's up.
11:33am left brain this right brain that:

I often don't hear lyrics. But not always.
  11:35am Cecile:

this is fun.
  11:35am thelma blitz:

Hey Ken, Please listen to the new Dylan album before you give it a bad review. The track you played with the raspy voice, "Pay in Blood" is supposed to sound that way because it threatens murder.
  11:36am Cecile:

fofo, I can see that happening if all your songs are instrumentals...
  11:36am Honey Water:

Roam if you want to / Roam around the world

Rome if you want to.
  11:37am hamburger:

so how comes the Dylan Xmas album is meant to be an "F.U." to the music industry?
  11:37am Mark:

?
  11:37am Sam:

Ken, what did your wife want to name the cat?
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 11:37am Ken:

I didnt give it a bad review, I played the first ten seconds of every track and Im kinda intrigued enought to want to hear the first TWENTY seconds of some of the tracks. Im like the only FMU DJ to play Bob's newest material at all! I love Bob, I actually really do. He can do no wrong by me.
11:38am left brain this right brain that:

I also am unable to carry on a conversation when I am focused on something else. Even when I'm using my whole brain.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 11:39am Ken:

Sam, My wife wants to call Dr. Bootygrabber by the name "Ernie." That's crazy, right?!
  11:40am dcp:

I think you should only call him by his whole name.
  11:41am Cecile:

hahahaha.
Call him Freaky. She doesn't know him well enough to call him "ernie"
  11:41am Georgia:

Dr. Ernest Bootygrabber, M.D.?
  11:42am thelma blitz:

Satan likes the new album too.
  11:42am Honey Water:

Ernie in honor of Borgnine? As in nine lives?
  11:43am dcp:

I sure like this Oranj Symphonette.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 11:43am Ken:

It's a great name, I call him Doc, Doctor, Dr Bootygrabber or BooTAY
  11:44am Honey Water:

Hard put to hear "Satin Doll" in this though.
  11:44am Cecile:

No, as in Dr. Ernerst Freedman Bootygrabber.
After Dr. Ernest Freaky Bootygrabber in the Detroit Grand Pubahs song.
  11:45am Bob Dylan:

I'm willing to listen to the first ten seconds of Ken's show :)
  11:46am Honey Water:

@BD: Oh, snap!
  11:46am KP:

I heard a whole new Bob song on FMU. The title track is great. It's Desolation Row in a rowboat.
  11:49am fofo (:

  11:52am bob from bushwood:

wow! i'm thrilled to hear a cut from the second-best-titled album on your show, Ken. and un-fucked with, so far. go, man, go.
  11:52am KP:

  11:53am Bob Dylan:

@paula: only ironically
  11:54am paula pc:

make that four in a row!
  11:56am Honey Water:

Well, the teenie blues graphic makes up for this classy "interruption."
  11:56am paula pc:

@ honey water -- yes, but it's black and white, so it must be classy too!
  11:57am Laura L:

Not a cat hater, but I received the "Sharp-end" kitty pencil sharpener as a gift and there's definitely a fine point when you get the lead out. It's very good.
  11:58am G:

I wish *my* cat would get the stick out of her ass.
  11:59am paula pc:

ABSOLUTELY James Brown is classy!!!!
  12:00pm paula pc:
