Live performance and chat with David Bromberg |
||||||||||
It all started with an unexpected solo slot on stage at the Isle of Wight Festival for David Bromberg. The 1970 festival goers were tough on the performers, but Bromberg managed to win them over and gained a contract with Columbia Records in the process. Since then David has, as his bio notes, "...played with everyone, he’s toured everywhere, he can lead a raucous big band or hold an audience silent with a solo acoustic blues." David Bromberg is playing three nights later in the week at City Winery, but managed to make time to stop at WFMU for a live set on Irene's show. | ||||||||||

Ever hear the great Angst song "Neil Armstrong?" It wouldn't fit in with what Irene's playing right now, though.

That's a nice gesture for Neil - if the sky is clear tonight I will wink at it!

Bromberg, Jerry Jeff, John Hartford--what a line-up! Had the priviledge to see all 3, at an earlier Philly Folk Fest, guess around '69-'70. A solo performence, on a warm summer aft. w/ John, at the long-gone Englishtown Music Hall still haunts my reveries!!
