Hello Doug, erella, annie & van. April Showers again, she recorded a few songs at FAME studios in the 70s as I recall.

  9:00am listener james from westwood:

annie, hope that surgery is smooth and the lad or lass is back on their feet in good time.
  9:01am Van in DC:

And a big howdy to all! It's that time to get on down...and give the drummer some! Happy happy Friday!
  9:01am annie:

i hope so too, but the circle is large and so i'm sure she'll be pushed gently through with few hassles..

Best wishes Annie
  9:10am erella:

Hello Annie, I will trade you good wishes. I am steeling myself here then I will go to my mom's bedside. Every day we think will be her last. It has been 12 days since she's refused food and almost a week since she's had no hydration. She's calm and comfortable and I will go rub her feet and tell her how much I love her. First though, I fill myself at this well. Thank you.
  9:12am Brian in UK:

fms, I was thinking of you this AM and wondering how your project was progressing.

Oh erella life is such a challenge, be strong.
  9:12am annie:

erella! bless your mom and bless you... foot rub sounds wonderful

The playlist link on the home page, the one with today's show notice, took me to Professor Dum-Dum's playlist for last Tuesday instead of here. Can I stay here can I huh can I huh?

  9:17am fishmonkeystew:

Peace for you and yours, Annie.
Brian, things are going swell! We've closed on the purchase, got the keys, sold some existing equipment that we didn't need (and made good $!), hired a cook, applied for the liquor license, bought a walk-in cooler, ordered the beer taps, hung new signs, and wrote the menu. Holy crap, I'm tired. HA!

Send any potential bands, and performing/visual artists my way! terry@the-stomping-ground.com
  9:18am listener james from westwood:

erella, you are a good child and deep down she knows that. you are doing what needs to be done. i wish you both peace.

  9:38am squirrel:

Got any sriracha?
  9:38am dc pat:

I got these amazing smartwool socks, half length that I can wear in cold weather or warm. Wool is the way to go--when it gets wet, it's still warm.

  9:44am Brian in UK:

Do shuttles fly south in the Spring?

  9:45am annie:

nc is cool-ish about 58 or so, been having some serious thunder boomers!! pretty sever, saw a funnel starting then is dissipated.. about a mile away..
  9:46am fishmonkeystew:

No website yet, Annie. Just a FB page: http://www.facebook.com/PutnamStompGround The menu is just getting some polish first, but after we wrote it, we realized that it's about 65-75% vegetarian. And we're not even vegs!

It's nice. We're right between Providence, RI, NYC, Northampton, MA and Boston. http://g.co/maps/wq83c Hopefully, that will help us attract the talent that we want to host.
  9:47am annie:

well, fms, i'd be happy to do anything at all, posting info, editing web pages.. etc.. and i guess i'll send that eye-catcher monday..
  9:48am dc pat:

You have a friend in cheeses
  9:56am fishmonkeystew:

Actually, the records are three degrees off, Brian, but since you are two degrees off, it only seems like one degree after accounting for the adjustment.
  10:05am ndbob:

sounds great Annie:)
  10:09am tr::sh:

@fms can't get to that /PutnamStompGround link without logging in.
I haven't logged in for nearly two years.

Doug, I am my own six degrees of separation. Could be existential.......?
  10:09am holland oats:

@fms ;)
  10:10am tr::sh:

i.e. you can set it to 'public', yes/no?
  10:10am dc pat:

fuckin squirrels...and then, when I start getting tomatoes, the douchebag cat birds will poke holes in them--just a couple so they're ruined. Well I have news for them, I'm putting up bird netting this year! hahaHA, assholes...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Doug Schulkind:

Then you'll be sitting in the, ahem, catbird seat, eh dc pat?!

@drummersome beneath the underdog
  10:15am dc pat:

well alls I know is I'm starting to like the rats more than the squirrels and birds. goddam robins start singing at 2AM. WHY?! jeezus H keerist. Do they ever sleep??
  10:15am Brian in UK:

dc pat, sounds like you need a small kind of fruit cage type construction before you crack up. We lost 36 tomato plants to the weather two years ago. Have you considered a greenhouse maybe.

Me & April are going to walk the dog.
  10:16am Laika:

Avoid space programs.
  10:16am dc pat:

oh GREAT! Now there's a big fat crow back there!! GET OUT OF HERE!!!
  10:16am annie:

pat, you'd never survive in the country, then.. birds are up before the crack of dawn..
  10:17am dc pat:

actually thinking a small greenhouse would be cool. Really don't have any room though--DC row house. (Incidentally, I got clearance from Ike to say "alls" -- no apostrophe)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Doug Schulkind:

Can you Laika on Facebook?
  10:18am dc pat:

yeah, I know. I grew up in the burbs, I've always had my issues with robins. dicks. The crickets drown out the dumb-ass robins in the country though..
  10:18am Brian in UK:

dc pat you are worrying me. The birds only sing 'cause the artifical light makes them think it is getting light.
  10:19am Matt from Springfield:

I'm sure Elvis would like to fry a cookie in a can of lard.
  10:19am Matt from Springfield:

Peant butter and banana cookies, if possible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Doug Schulkind:

  10:20am dc pat:

Hmmm, you may be on to something there Brian. No problems camping for instance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am Doug Schulkind:

Chas. Mingus is doing the walking on this next track from Teddy Charles (R.I.P.)
  10:22am dc pat:

I want to move to Bodunk, ME or WV or something but Mrs. dc pat won't have it. I think the kids would kill me if we moved too. They love it here.
  10:22am Brian in UK:

I'm off to our allotment to pick some rhubarb.

You've really hit magnetic north today, Doug.
  10:23am dc pat:

Brian, I have 2 words for you: rhubarb and strawberry pie.
  10:23am listener james from westwood:

best of luck stalking the wild rhubarb, brian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am Doug Schulkind:

I would move to Maine in a heartbeat.

@Brian
Think the rain'll hurt the rhubarb?

Not if it's in a can.

What, the rain?

No, the rhubarb!

krikey what a green comments board - i'm feeling like Oliver Wendell Douglas over here
  10:25am listener james from westwood:

  10:26am annie:

  10:27am ndbob:

Speaking of wild rhubarb, there is a recording of rhubarb growing
  10:27am dc pat:

in dc we have victory gardens left over from WWII. Big open areas where you can rent a patch and grow junk. There are 2 in my neighborhood.

I'm not a veggie either, by any means. Too much bacon in the world that needs eatin'
  10:34am annie:

pat, the job thing is tough, gotta be very established or very flexible
  10:35am Brian in UK:

Rhubarb & Ginger jam. Infuse with root ginger first, remove it, then add crystallised ginger. Yum.
The good thing about growing veg is that you get gluts and this concentrates the mind about imaginative ways to cook.
  10:36am dc pat:

right I hear you annie. actually, what I'd reallly like to do is get a camper van and hit the road for a year. the kids homeschooling would consist of Rock and Food.
  10:37am Matt from Springfield:

Cat numero tres?! You could have your cats program an entire show.
  10:37am annie:

all the more power to you!!! it's heaven on earth up there..

  10:39am Matt from Springfield:

@dc pat: Very hippie of you there--I like proximity to cities to much to relocate to the country, despite my love of green space, hiking and the outdoors--though when I retire (in like 350 years...) it'd be nice to live in the country.
  10:41am Matt from Springfield:

Scanning the earlier comments, saying a prayer for erella's mom and annie's friend's kid.
