Copyright persists for 75 years after the death of the original holder, and Ravel passed away in 1937.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
Nate K:

That's only in the US, right?
  3:45pm
Snortley:

Actually, I think the US recently added an extension past the 75 years. There are international conventions that vary, and besides, are not always observed in practice in some jurisdictions.

wikipedia: "Works published or registered before 1978 currently have a maximum copyright duration of 95 years from the date of publication, if copyright was renewed during the 28th year following publication (such renewal was made automatic by the Copyright Renewal Act of 1992; prior to this the copyright would expire after 28 years if not renewed). The date of death of the author is not a factor in the copyright term of such works."

Dano:

Ahh, nice beginning set today -- a nod to the Marathon with the Scaffold track - always loved McGear for not capitalizing on Paul's name... and the James Gang! The interpolated bits drove me crazy; thought 'Bolero' was 'Caravan' at first ... then I realized the other part was Cast Yr Fate to the Wind... nice video of that full version here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byemtlXKTYU -- Thanks Mike! Good stuff.
  4:29pm
glenn:

mike douglas had some great musicians on over the years. i seem to recall (but i could be wrong), john lennon playing with chuck berry and ted nugent on some tunes.

lennon and berry played together on johnny cash - with clapton i think.

David Shortell:

I once caught the end of Three O'Clock's set at City Gardens. I understand they had to change their name from Salvation Army when the real Salvation Army complained!
Just as that other south Cal 80's group, Redd Kross, initiated the bizarre misspelling of their name when the real Red Cross complained.
