G:

Who killed "..."?
  3:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Slovenians and Croats would say the Serbs did it.
  3:02pm
Laura L:

Austrian sharpshooters
  3:03pm
G:

sharpshooter, eh? well ellipses *are* small targets
  3:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Eurozone Optimism -- makes me feel quite optimistic! Once again, Europe's entire economy will not explode in a bloody mess, at least not till tomorrow. All they need is to keep up this optimism every day!
  3:04pm
Laura L:

Precisely!
  3:05pm
G:

When is the copypasted Thing with a Hook set scheduled? So I'm not out of the room at that time.
  3:06pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hey, it's YOU, Laura L! I should have recognized it by your photo editing!
  3:06pm
O. J. Simpson:

Don't look at me.
  3:07pm
Laura L:

Note: "precisely" meant to follow G's comment "ellipses are small targets."

I don't care abut the Euros as long as I have a steady supply of Rolos!

Dead Corporate Eyes:

I've never worn a beret, and I'm not about to start now.
  3:12pm
the glowing one:

actually europe is in bad situation, they cannot print money to pay the interests, they have to get loans from commercial banks. those banks which give the european a hard time right now. the european constition fobids the European Central Bank to print money and give it to the EUro-states... that's very very bad... the US and the UK do not have this problem, that's why US can still manage despite their horror-debt
  3:13pm
Parq:

In other news, RIP Harry Morgan. The Reuters obit gallantly neglects to mention AfterMASH".
  3:13pm

I'm more of a phantom zone optimist than a eurozone optimist.
  3:13pm
Joe Bacon:

I prefer the Twilight Zone
  3:17pm
wil dneiL:

Euroskeptic here....because Germany and France end up trying to run all of Europe....and Poland kowtows...because it is seen to be "stylish" to become more decadent, secular and ....less Polish...sad, really...

G:

@Laura L 3:07: There speaks an edior. Editrix.

@Anon, 3:29: Wouldn't you agree that "Spooky Reuben" would be a good name for a band?
  3:44pm
kat330:

Decades ago I thought of a good punk band name: Ear Juice.

Ny nephew used to call his punk band, "Urine Test"...

kat330:

Is this the Buzzcocks underneath?
  3:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

This is Shatner-esque!
@Mike: That's cool, interesting to point out. The problem is Jonesy's show is a black hole, no playlists posted ever, so we can't look up if he already played something.
  3:59pm
Joe Bacon:

Ever since I heard this, I've avoided Fridays...
  3:59pm

Heh, would that be such a bad thing?
  4:04pm
Nate:

man, how many times did i watch this movie on VHS in my parents basement?
  4:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Well this is radio and not the stage, so maybe there is only a third wall to break. Or, maybe the "third earphone"? Okay, I'm going to stop in case I break any space-time.
  4:05pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Now I got this audio image in my head of the first few notes of Beethoven's 5th with Amanda war-whooping on the 4th beat. Thanks y'all.

"When they meet their childhood heroes, '70s soul duo The Swanky Modes (Sam Moore and Junior Walker), Ivan and Josh concoct a scheme to give them a new audience by hijacking a Menudo concert, getting them to perform in Menudo's place, and broadcasting it live across the country on a TV satellite hook-up."

Have been enjoying the show Irwin. Gotta run though. Happy Wednesday! :)
  4:25pm
Joe Bacon:

Gosh, I still remember the time someone hijacked a video transmission of Dr Who and replaced it with a tacky Max Headroom parody!
  4:26pm
phillip:

They should re-release Tapeheads special edition on VHS and Beta. I'm sure those would sell great!
  4:28pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

  4:31pm

One of the best later-period GBV songs! Yeaaaaa
  4:32pm
the glowing one:

late teen = 25-30 ?
  4:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe Bacon: I've seen that before. The signal hackers tried it a couple times in the Chicago area, the Doctor Who one is the only complete transmission. (And Doctor Who fanatics were taping it, so there are several copies available).
  4:34pm
MC Hammer:

U cant touch Dan!

  4:42pm
Carmichael:

Col. Potter/Det. Friday mas up. No, wait. That wouldn't work, they're the same guy.
  4:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Irwin: I noticed: you normally include the Lee Morgan theme "Yes I Can, No You Can't" as an entry at the beginning of the playlist. You didn't today.

I think there WAS a time-space rift -- I also had an iTunes accident during after my last post. Anyone know how to get rid of a 1000 dupes a quick and easy way?
  4:48pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks, I saw a couple Lees and Leo, but not the usual one at the beginning.
  4:49pm
Carmichael:

Kat, use the "delete duplicates" function. I'm not looking at iTunes at the moment, but you can get the button to appear on the bottom of your playlist.
  4:50pm
kat330:

I'll give it a try...it didn't explain in the "Help" section how to do it though.
  4:52pm
kat330:

Arrggghh....not finding any such button. I have it showing dupes and, though I know not how it happened, I have even two dupes of much of my big mix list.
  4:53pm
glenn:

how many jeezledy guided by voices albums are there? anybody out there own them all?
  4:54pm
kat330:

Intuitively it would seem there should be a function "Delete all dupes? yes/no?" BUt I'm not finding it. Well, my better half will no doubt find a quicker solution than going one-by-one as I've been doing the last several minutes. Thanks again though!
  4:54pm

I was looking up if "Apartment No. 9" was a Dolly or Tammy hit (it was Tammy). I did find out though, that was a Johnny Paycheck composition!
  5:00pm
kat330:

Hmm, well, I have Windows and there is no "Display Exact Dulicates" in my file menu. I'm sure there will be a way to do this faster, but I'll do it manually and slowly for now. Thanks!

  5:05pm
G:

But won't his people call to cancel some time during Irwin's show next week?
  5:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: That seems to be a Wed afternoon problem at the station. That, or someone's spilt, cleaning chemicals, or Ken's left his pills at the DJ console again.
  5:06pm
glenn:

re : johnny paycheck. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7IjYs8U80E
  5:06pm
British Lions:

Yes, ring up Morgan Fischer.
  5:08pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Bats! Always dig the Flying Nun sound!
  5:10pm
glenn:

i read flying nun, but my brain saw flying lizards.
  5:10pm
kat330:

Daggit! Third interrupting phone call to make this distracting mess even worse...anyhoo, unless there's an option that says "delete ALL exact dupes" for a given playlist, I'll still have to delete one-by one whether "date added" is chosen or playing time or any other method. I have all the dupes showing, it's just a massive amount. Space-time rift, I tell ya...
  5:17pm
Cineman:

My favorite space movie is ___________________?
  5:19pm
Joe Bacon:

My favorite space movie isn't Star Trek The Motionless Picture! It premiered 33 years ago today!
  5:20pm
Pike:

Veejur isn't happy.
  5:21pm
kat330:

Of recent years, I quite liked "Moon."
  5:21pm
Joe Bacon:

Actually Veejur is getting ready to exit the Solar System!
  5:22pm
Vlad The Impala:

Solaris (Russian) is outstanding.
  5:22pm
Matt from Springfield:

Bob & Ray!
  5:23pm
Joe Bacon:

Yes, the Russian version of Solaris is very good
  5:24pm
Apollo Creed:

What's that stranded in space movie with Gene Hackman?
  5:25pm
kat330:

"Alien," bocoors.
  5:25pm
Mr. Blight's Remarks:

Agwwagagwww, double granny knot?? Awagaag..
  5:25pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Santa Claus vs. The Martians
  5:26pm
glenn:

buffy the vampire layer.
  5:26pm
VT Mark:

I wanna hear the Winnebago Man like out take version of this industrial clip.
  5:26pm
Celeste Eel:

2001, and I even thought 2010 was quite good. Scheider!
  5:27pm
Joe Bacon:

Marooned was the movie with Gene Hackman, Richard Crenna and James Franciscus stuck in an Apollo capsule when the retros didn't work
  5:27pm
Carmichael:

I liked Outland, basically High Noon in space.
  5:27pm
Mr Ra:

Space is the Place.
  5:28pm
mott:

i wish we could go back to saying 'Martians' instead of the word 'Aliens'. everyone is so politically correct these days...
  5:28pm
kat330:

@Apollo: "Marooned"
  5:28pm
kat330:

I was just going to mention "Outland" Carmichael.
  5:29pm
Carmichael:

What was that Bruce Dern movie with the robots and the last of the trees?
  5:29pm
Apollo Creed:

@Bacon, kat - TY! I was thinking it was Capricorn 1.
  5:30pm
kat330:

I can't keep up here, delete dupes, answer calls and make dinner...sorry when I'm way behind.
  5:30pm
VT Mark:

wouldn't we all be surprised when the alien ship shows up and it is a big space pick up truck ship with all the aliens piled in the bed of the trucking looking for work. and we don't have it.
  5:30pm
Blind Man:

Nice tits, where do you want these curtains?
  5:31pm
Joe Bacon:

Capricorn 1 was the movie with OJ Simpson and James Brolin on the faked mission to Mars.
  5:31pm
glenn:

dinner and phone calls will have to wait.
  5:31pm
Joe Bacon:

Carmichael that was Silent Running--the movie with Bruce Dern and the funky robots.
  5:32pm
Apollo:

@Joe - Thanks!
  5:32pm
Parq:

Carm, wasn't that movie "Silent Running"? The robots were played by midgets with no legs. No, this isn't a set-up.
  5:33pm
Parq:

Sorry, Joe, I type slowly.
  5:34pm
Joe Bacon:

Yes, Parq! that's right. Trumbull used legless midgets to fit in the robot suits.
  5:34pm
Carmichael:

Seriously, Parq? That is some freaky ass shit right there.
  5:34pm
Carmichael:

Hey, what about THX1138?? Great Robert Duvall performance.
  5:35pm
kat330:

Kinski in "Android".
  5:40pm
Parq:

Has anyone mentioned "Dark Star"? Longhaired astronauts, and a nuclear bomb that develops a God complex.
  5:42pm
Carmichael:

What was that movie with George Peppard as a cowboy, John Boy Walton and Robert Vaughn all out in space in separate ships doing something?
  5:42pm
Dave B:

The Turkish E.T. (Badi) was the best!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0U-M9W4nKw
  5:44pm
Parq:

"The Turkish E.T." would also serve well as a band name.
  5:45pm
Stare Isle:

THX1138 - Great one Carmichael
  5:45pm
kat330:

"Total Recall," not a badly done Dick.
  5:46pm
mott:

get your ass back to Mars.
  5:46pm
don:

extra turkishtrial
  5:46pm
Whitney 3:

Good name for an appetizer
  5:47pm
kat330:

"Elephant" might win Irwin's playlist word of the day.
  5:47pm
Hanks V:

No one's mentioned Apollo 13.
  5:48pm
kat330:

Right stuff, Hanks!
  5:49pm
Porcupine Tree:

Wilson!
  5:51pm
Late Entry:

We're going to plaid!
  5:53pm
Bowie:

The Man Who Fell to Earth?
  5:53pm
Parq:

"Right Stuff" itself belongs on the list, if only for the scene where Glenn tells his wife to stand up to LBJ.
  5:54pm
kat330:

Connecting to the imminent 7SD: We had a review copy of Bill Plympton's (at UCB last week) "Hair High" and watched it the other night. Quite a creative guy, though the script/dialog was weak.
  5:55pm
kat330:

@Bowie: not so much a space movie though. All too terrestrial.
  5:59pm
Parq:

Annnd finally, that old silent with the rocket landing in the moon's eye.
  5:59pm
Mel:

Spaceballs?
