Hmmm, I kind of like Dan and Joel now...
  3:25pm
v k:

just searched my gMail - i have emails from Joel Clark from when i was buying life ins...ultimately went with another company - joel about volume, not service
  3:25pm
On Behalf of Joel Clark:

OK, perhaps this is a multiweek experiment to determine whether I annoy my wife more in real life, or processed audio for me annoys Irwin's listeners more in FMU alternate-life.
  3:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

@JJ: WFMU is still the 2nd result in Google's AutoComplete for "WFM*", but we need your help to get it to Numero Uno!!!!!
  3:27pm
G:

It's first fill-in result for "WFM" on Safari for me.
  3:30pm
Hopey:

After this I may also need anti-depressants.
  3:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

Aren't we all just "Prisoner Number 6" when it comes to WFMU...or in my case Prisoner (ahem) Listener Number___

is this what it sounds like -- "Caravan" on electronically manipulated emergency airhorns?

Has anyone located Max Rubin? Was he from years ago, or is he contemporary? In either case he warrants either a retrospective or a premiere showcase of his music with WFMU interview.

  3:46pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Irwin: Have you ever heard Sir Lancelot's "Atomic Energy" from 1947? I heard it on Surface Noise last weekend--it's awesome! Did you refer Joe to that one?
  3:52pm
The Nation's Meter Readers:

We're not impressed with you, either.
  3:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

Nothing can be a disaster, since we averted a WFMU disaster last month! As long as WFMU is up, we needn't worry. Do y'all have a post-apocalyptic command center and shortwave freq. ready to go?
  3:52pm

Ehh, government is overrated.

I'm sure the campaign to get people to eat more sausage links is a lobbyist thing. And as for National Hobo Awareness Week, well, that actually sounds pretty awesome. I'll pay 1/4 cents in taxes a year for that.

Hey, Irwin. When you decide to get off your soapbox and play some music, I'll be back.

The government's on the internet now, it's not going to shut down, don't be a'scared.

Government:

Time to put Irwin on the list for rice-paddy re-education.
  3:59pm
Ike:

Rice paddies? Somebody's Commie jokes are a little geographically incorrect. We don't have that many rice paddies around here. Surely you can mock us dirty pinkos better than that. At least put a little effort in it, jeez.
  4:01pm
Government:

I know using metaphor is a stretch, sorry. Gotta work on that public education system more.
  4:03pm
Unclear on the concept:

I'm sure that nice Mr. Irwin could do a fine job of re-eductating those misguided rice paddies.
  4:04pm
Ike:

At least go with wheat-field re-education, for Christ's sake. This is America. We don't eat that much rice. OK, admittedly, maybe I know my starches overly well. Is that a crime?

Oh and my greedy, evil, unionized high school teachers were better and more thoughtful than my expensive private college professors. Suck on THAT rice paddy.
  4:05pm
The Left Chef:

Rice pâté?
  4:08pm
Impressionable:

Hey, I wanna be pro big government, too!!!! I can see just from the board how happy it makes people!!!!
  4:08pm
Carmichael:

And there I was just last night, talking about Stubby Kaye and his game show Shenanigans: "Well, the clock on the wall says it's time to go!"
  4:15pm
Parq:

Holy cow, Charm "Shenanigans"! I know so few people who remember the show that I sometimes think I dreamed the whole thing. Remember the sudden death thing where the kid had to choose between a box sitting on a table and one being held by a monster? The table one was always a booby prize. Not to make Iriwn's point for him, but if they tried that today, the Concerned Parents crowd would go berserk.
  4:20pm
On Behalf of Joe Franklin:

My Access-a-Ride isn't available at that time. How would I get there from the nursing home?
  4:22pm
ginger tim:

Please tell me that's not really the name of that tune!!
  4:23pm
On Behalf of Joe Franklin:

Would "Ginger Showers" be better?
  4:24pm
Sr Hairy Hymen:

Golden Showers, Has any one tried it... Its very very Pissy
  4:25pm
Steve McGarrett:

It's pineapple juice, friend.
  4:26pm

  4:56pm
Matt from Springfield:

Oh! You should have mixed Revolution 9's "Number ni-ne, number nine..." into Dan & Joel #9!! That would be perfect!
  4:58pm

  5:09pm
Matt from Springfield:

@HL: Really, the University of BC? Same time as bp?
  5:10pm
Happy Listener:

No, I'm not that old. Just UBC alum
  5:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

I've been a bpN fan since I first found UbuWeb and regained my interest in Fraggle Rock:
http://www.ubu.com/sound/nichol.html

Very different, very wide range of compositions! In fact they've uploaded more sounds on his page than when I last checked--I'll have to listen when I get home.
  5:15pm

......The flip side is called "Air in the Hotport"......
  5:16pm

I think the TSA has finally met it's match for airport horror: Y. Bhekhirst
I think Bhekhirst (tried to) lift a riff from You Lost That Lovin' Feelin'... Hard to tell, I'm getting a contact high from this song.

"The Weeping Song" illustrates the best use of baritone male and contralto female vocals.
  5:29pm
Robert:

I didn't have the right spelling of Bhekhirst before. Either he wasn't in "Key of Z" or was spelled differently or I just forgot.
  5:29pm
Happy Listener:

Ooh, I love a Mellotron. Even my software synth version!
  5:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

TWO mellotron tracks in fact! "Flute" bassline and "strings" chords! Love the mellotron myself!
  5:32pm
Happy Listener:

'tis true
  5:32pm
Hopey:

Thanks for the link, Parq! I'm listening on my phone and will have to listen to that archived show later at home.
  5:33pm
Babyrotten:

Does anyone know who made that instrument
  5:33pm
AnAnonymousParty:

The only problem with most mellotron players is that they treat it like an organ, typical chord voicings, rather than try to make it sound more like an orchestrated string or woodwind section. Or at least it always seemed to me.
  5:35pm
Happy Listener:

I hate to admit it, but I'm most mellotron players.
  5:38pm
john:

none. I can't take any of that.
  5:39pm

  5:56pm
On Behalf of Gilbert Gottfried:

Speaking of pieces of my broken luck, the Aflac duck is now doing ads in silent-movie format. Waaaahhhhh!!!!!
  5:57pm
Joel Sure:

Select Quote's site has an image of Suze Orman with her giant fake smile - I closed it immediately. Though maybe that's what Tullis & Clark look like with their skin pulled back?
